My wife and I will be going to the game this Saturday and we will be leaving Friday after work. Planning on driving up that night and getting a hotel somewhere, we will be coming in on I40E looking for a basic hotel somewhere nearby, doesnt have to be the Hilton....But not wanting the "roach" motel either....If anybody has any advice where to stay I am open...Looking for something close to campus so we can get there early for the Vol Walk and everything....Like I said its her first game and if it makes an impression on her hopefully she will come to many more.....Thanks in advance....

Good luck. Most hotels close are booked and if there are vacancies they require a two night stay.

I am staying at the Worlds Fair Holiday Inn. It's OK, but way overpriced due to fan gouging.

If you want reasonable - I'd recommend checking out Harriman.

yeah if i were you i'd try the hotels in the cedar bluff area. there are a lot there and they're not too overpriced, plus it's a fairly short drive on i-40. I know there's a recently remodeled Hampton Inn there that I've stayed in and it's very nice.

Thanks everyone for your inputs...Is there a Cedar Bluff exit on 40?

Yes it is....you cant miss it.....once you get into the west side of Knoxville past the campbell station road exit....go ahead and get in the far right lane it will be moving the slowest but the cedar bluff exit is after lovell road exit....you will make a left off the exit and go back up under the interstate...there are a couple of hotels there.....your best bet is to try and stay in west knoxville...dont go all the way into town

I would definitely try to make reservations before you leave, though. I'd say hotels (even around Cedar Bluff) get booked up on Fridays before a home game. Go to expedia, hotels.com, priceline, or one of those other travel sites to see which hotels even have vacancies.

just crash on a buddies couch. that's what my wife and I are doing. IT'S FREE! BTW, we aren't still in college, so none of those replies.

I know you said you were coming I-40 Eastbound, but on the otherside of downtown, there are several new hotels off of the Strawberry Plains exit. If you can't find anything over on Cedar Bluff, you can try there. I would suggest Merchants Rd, but I'm not sure.

I'd say you oughta find a hotel an hour away from Knoxville and drive up in the morning. Finding a hotel in Knoxville on a gameday weekend is near impossible.
