It was in the B'ham paper today that a Knoxville Fulton player (the name escapes me now) is expected to sign with Anthony Grant's team this week. According to the paper the kid averaged almost 25 points a game and was the two time Tennessee classAA player of the year.

Did Pearl not recruit the player? I hope he doesn't turn out like the Turner kid several years ago that left Knoxville for Ole Miss and later became a thorn in the side for the Vols.

Jalen Steele is not an SEC caliber player. He has played in the Rocky Top League the last few years and Pearl only offered him a walk-on spot. I do not know enough about the Elston Turner recruitment to comment on that situation, except to say that was a long time ago.

Who would have thought? It's not like Grant recruited him while he was committed with Auburn anyway.

I guess Bama and Auburn thought so.

I remember Elston Turner very well...He came back to haunt us on a regular basis...Devoe really dropped the ball on not recruiting him....Same with the Johnson kid who went to Maryland...DeVoe let a lot of good local talent get away and settled for players such as the legendary Doug Roth :eek:lol:
