Can you imagine if Gameday was there with Corso and his "head gear". Hahahahaha, idiots.

Some folks need to move out of the 1800's.

Do KKK members watch football and basketball? They seem like the type of white trash that would but it seems as though Nascar, Hockey, Baseball etc. would be more their sport. I don't know how you could hate other races and then cheer for them in sports without being a hypocrite. You'd hate a majority of the players on most football and basketball teams.

The university approved it?

Someone is getting fired over this.

The University can't really say no to them... Freedom of speech, etc. Also, if they did, it would lead to a lot more grief than their little protest will bring.

I bet some Bama and LSU boosters are behind this.

National Signing Day is less than 3 months away.
Wake up and smell the coffee. It's about the administration at Ole Miss telling the students if they didn't quit making some kind of chant during the playing of the revised version of Dixie they would make the band quit playing it altogether. They didn't quit so the chancellor made the band stop playing Dixie. That's where the dumbass KKK came in. I wish they had've been there last weekend for the Tennessee game as I would've loved to throw something on them they wouldn't have appreciated.

I'm sure with freedom of assembly the administration doesn't have much of a choice in this matter, but it is still ironic.

My dad is good friends with a former Ole Miss basketball coach who was let go because he wanted to play the best athletes regardless of race. Of course that is not the "official" reason for his firing, nor does it have much to do with this thread, but just something to think about.

Huh??? Are you making an assumption that just because someone watches hockey or baseball that they are white trash or even members of the kkk? I am not trying to blow your post out of proportion, but were you in fact trying to imply that fans of hockey, baseball, etc. are all white trash kkk members? I certainly feel like I am about as far from a kkk member or white trash as one could be and I love hockey and baseball. This is probably one of the most ignorant posts I have read on here in quite a while.

How is this for assuming? After reading only one of your posts I am assuming that people like yourself only help to promote racial divides with stereotypes. Now why don't you go back to watching water polo or whatever it is classy people cheer for.

I would love for some of the attorneys on here to chime in on this. I don't believe there is anything a public university can do to stop the racists in this situation, based on the first amendment (although I hope I'm wrong on that). However, if a similar situation ever came up at UT, I would hope that the administration would refuse the request, forcing the KKK to take it to court and making a judge force the university to allow it. That would remove the perception that the university "supports the KKK".

I believe he was implying they would watch hockey, nascar, etc. because the athletes in those sports tend to be predominately white, not that every Braves fan is also a Grand Wizard. Just what I took from it.

So you don't think his statement was racist in any respect?

I'll throw in my $0.02.

I'm not an attorney, but from what I've learned it would be hard for a university to prevent something like this from happening. If they refuse the KKK's request, that would appear to be what's known as a "content-based restriction," which is basically a restriction on the free exercise of speech based upon the speech's particular content. In general, these kinds of restrictions are difficult to defend, and unless there is a really good reason for the restriction (a "compelling state interest"), it probably wouldn't hold up. Protection of unpopular viewpoints is taken pretty seriously, and if you were an attorney for the KKK you could probably just point to various other controversial demonstrations that happen on campus throughout the year (the anti-abortion group that we frequently see at UT, for example). If you're the attorney for the university, you could argue that a KKK demonstration would be a disruption to students and would possibly incite violence on campus, but even then you'd probably be fighting an uphill battle.

Any attorneys out there, feel free to correct me.

This kind of thing makes me sick.

Sadly, there are groups going onto college campuses of other races, and even religions that spew more hate than these clowns. What makes them even more dangerous is they get to fly under the radar because it's not PC to say anything, and they don't dress like a bunch of morons.

I'll probably get blasted for this ,(and I could care less)but not one word would be said about some anti-American Muslim group going on a campus.Yet, they are far more dangerous than these uneducated KKK bozo's that you can't even take seriously because they are stupid, and completely out of touch with reality.

Still, they all have the first amendment right to march.I guess that's the ugly side of having the freedom that we do in this country. The best thing to do to all hate groups is ignore them, and teach our children about them.I have explained to my son what the KKK stands for,and I tell him they are just evil, and have no love, tolerance,or compassion for people that aren't like them.

Again,it's not just the KKK we should be teaching our kids about either.

A lot of dumb folks out there, the klan is for ignorant white folk who are not taught to know better. Here is to hoping the Ole Miss students overlook this stupidity and I pray it goes peacefully.
