Go find the Tamu/Arkansas tape.
Tamu QB Knight ran right past Hogs linebackers.

Hopefully, we hear from Butch today that Kirkland is at or near 100% with his ankle and that he will play.

This is not meant to demean CJ.
He has been playing his heart out.
But, he just doesn't have the speed to chase down a running QB.

Can't they just set a guy to cover knight? Does kirkland have to be healthy for this to happen?

This would be good news to hear. However...hearing he is back and @100%...does not seem likely. Just my guess.

TRUE lower body extremity injuries, such as DKjr suffered may take some more time to be 100%.

Doubt he's ready until after Bama. Same for Maybin. These next two games are tall orders for our kids. It's going to take a complete effort by the entire team and staff.....and some luck.

This has a bit of an Oregon feel to it from a few yrs back. I can see Vols getting hammered big time...but then I see how A and M was less than dominant vs South Carolina...and feel we have a good shot.

These injuries to those 3 key players you'd think would severely hamper us...and it almost should...and would be understandable if it did.

Why does it seem we've played EVERYBODY and Bama has played NOBODY yet...except Ole Miss? In due time I guess.

Vols CAN win this..but without Kirkland, Sutton and JRM? Man, this gauntlet is BRUTAL.

definitely have to contain Knight...he can kill you with his feet...Kirkland back?...doubt it, but we've already seen a few miracles...:)

GO VOLS!

I hope his ankle isn't the key.....from everything I've heard/read, he's not likely to play.

A&M is a good football team, but I would rather have a really healthy Kirkland back for Bama than to play him against A&M. We can beat A&M without Kirkland, but we can not beat Bama without him. Look for the VOLs to win a close game Saturday.

A spy?
Gaulden, maybe?

I could see us doing that, since Knight is a home run threat one the ground. They're going to challenge us deep several times a possession, though, and that would leave us with single coverage.

So basically you think were going to get blown out but you also think were gonna win.

Sounds about right to me.:crazy:

raw

In that game UT took a knife to a gun fight talent wise. We now have a roster talented enough to compete with anyone....it all will come down to execution. TAMU may beat the socks off of us, but it won't be because we lack the speed and talent to compete.

Yep. Normally a safety (but not always). Which then leaves every wideout facing some sort of man coverage. Easy pickings for a good qb. That's why defensive line play is imperative this week. We can't let them get started, or we may not stop them. If they establish their run game we are at a supreme disadvantage covering their receivers on Saturday.

Would not put much stock in how they played against USCe. A&M is about as banged up as the Vols. Myles Garrett their all-everything DE, both starting WR's Ricky Seals-Jones, and Speedy Noil as well as their starting RT and short yardage TB did not play against the Cocks. Best speculation is Garrett and Noils will be back for sure for Tennessee; the rest are game time decisions. If most or all are back at near 100% for Saturdays game then it will be a whole different A&M team than what South Carolina faced.

I'd personally would rather everyone stay out of this game and heal up. We take our chances with what we have been playing with and get everyone back for the Bama game.

Wish DKJ's "lower body extremity injury" was similar to that of Hurd's! I think Hurd's was due from CBJ kicking his A** ! :)

If before the season you would have offered me this deal with the Devil:
Win 3 out of 4 of our gauntlet with the only loss being to TAMU, I would have jumped on it.
Now, I want to renegotiate the deal to go 4 & 0. :clapping:
I'm a greedy bastidge. Lol.

Lots of people have said Bama at the the earliest.

Have faith in Jumper.

I have great faith in how much he WANTS to do well.
Great effort and great attitude.
Just afraid he doesn't have the physical tools to stop Knight. :ermm:

LOL, the :naughty: Devil doesn't renegotiate.

I'm with ya, I'd rather be 6 and 0 after the bama game without a doubt.

I would be fine with DK and JRM sitting out until after the bye week, getting fully healed. Then they can play about half the snaps in the remaining games, and be fully ready for the SECC and playoffs.
