These 2 returning may very well be the difference between a win, and a loss, this weekend.

We are going to need both in order to help us beat A & M.

Anyone have any inside injury updates?

We have a surplus of talent at DE. Any of them fast enough to play linebacker?

I'm ready to put Kyle and Kongo at LB.....lol!

I'm worried that Reeves-Maybin may need surgery again...no inside info just the fact that thet it's not healing....bruises heal but tears often require surgery...I hope not but if that's the case, I wish him well in the NFL...pound for pound one of the best athletes we've every had...

Jumper played an outstanding game at Georgia...would it be better to have Kirkland and Maybin back?? Sure...but anyone who complains about Jumper's play so far just doesn't understand what a LB does....and McDowell played well as well...prob what I'm most pleased about so far on defense....those guys have played fine!!

Still, the reason GA ran so well on us had a lot to do with our LBs. I think Jumper and McDowell are doing a good job, but Maybin and Kirkland would have made a huge difference.

And A&M has that freak T Williams who is averaging 100 yards/game. On top of that, A&M's QB has 400 yards rushing.. Averaging twice as many yards/rush than Dobbs.. We NEED one of these guys back.

it would definitely be nice but I don't expect either to play. I would have Kongbo lining up in front of center on field goal and extra point tries, though...just a thought.

GO VOLS!

Unless you are related to Jumper, I can't see why would you post this. Jumper had a good Florida game, yes. Both Jumper and McDowell were targeted over and over by GA offense and were exposed both on run and pass play. The LBs were slow and by the time they tackled, there were already big gains. The passes to TE that hurt us big were also due to LBs being exposed.
I am not one of those who constantly blame Jumper. He is the best option we got. It is not his or MdDowell's fault that Bates, Eliot Berry or other highly recruited LBs can't live up to their hype. However, saying that Jumper played well is overstretching a lot.

I know you're joking but Kongbo seems ALMOST fast enough haha but there was one play he was out there looking like he was in pass protection (don't remember what play but must've been a breakdown) and he is very much not a linebacker.

Our McDowell and Jumper can't get off blocks to save their life. When they finally get loose the RB has got a big gain already. Rarely have I seen them shed and fill for a minimal gain.

I listened to Doug Mathews "Big Orange Sunday" yesterday. His take... The guys in at linebacker are playing at their ability level. Good effort, however, by SEC standards, without Kirkland and JRM, our linebackers are "average".

A&M has a mobile QB and a freak runner in Williams. The running game will be the best we've seen so far. If we get down by 17 against TA&M, I doubt we can pull off the comeback.

Not trying to be a negavol. And...on that note, if you listen to the post ga game interviews - just about to a man - Barnett, Dobbs etc. All said. "We haven't put together a whole game yet. When we do, we can beat anyone". That's what has to happen.

The difference between winning and losing is winning the one on one match ups, this will be avery physical game. Hope we can match up and not blow assignments. :crossfingers:

We are in trouble if neither can go... out LBs were exposed Sat and you can bet A&M will go after them this week.

Maybin is done per VQ poster. Said they did another MRI, and he will likely need surgery.

Yep this is what I would guess. I think he played the first few snaps after half time during the Florida game as final farewell in Orange.
