I knew as soon as I saw the score on ESPN that a thread like this would pop up. So if Butch beats #1 Bama that means he should sign an extension right?

If Butch trips and lands on an upset of Bama he will probably get an extension. We are Tennessee you know.

Kirby at GA and Dino HC at Syracuse 2 years .. brought them back we are still hauling bricks. Syracuse beats Clemson and we continue to beat ourselves as an institution . Bricks and process can go where Sunshine doesn’t shine

also SU lost to MTSU

Don't think Dino should be on the list but he'd definitely be an upgrade. QB injury or not he just spanked the #2team in the country in year 2 at a basketball school with a roster full of 2 and 3 stars. Wilcox on the other hand looks like a possible name to be considered. He has that mediocre Cal roster playin lights out! Absolutely crushed WASU

Syracuse was 4-8 last year and 4-3 this year. One fluke lucky game doesn't a great coach make.

Syracuse is 4-3 and just beat the #2 team without their starting QB. Pump the brakes people. Clemson likely finishes the season 11-1

I like Babers though. He got my respect when he played UT.

He's a very good coach. If you coupled him with the right DC... he could do really well at a place like UT.

People were giving Jones credit in year 3 for taking over a mess, having to play young players, and not having his "system" in place yet. Now through year 5... can anyone name a Jones win more impressive than what Babers got last night against one of the most talented team in the country... while still playing with scrubs? Prior to his arrival, SU had won 6 ACC games in 3 years. They're 2-1 right now having beaten the odds on favorite to win the ACC and lost at a decent NCSU team.

I think I'd like to see more.

Jesus every freaking week it's something else on VN. A team plays good or pulls an upset, oh we should hire this coach. If it's not that its comparisons to Butch.

No offense to Dino but Butch has always played down to the level of his competition. BG’s only offense was throwing it deep to that white kid receiever. No reason we should have ever allowed that game to be close. Dino’s stock rose because of that tight competition but Butch had no business having that game be close.

Bah ha ha.

He was going to South Carolina. The deal was done. That's why UGA fired Richt. Had they not done so, Kirby would be a Cock.

And if we had hired him instead of Butch then we would have been looking for a new coach when he left us last year to take the UGA job

Rome wasn't built in a day

It didn't fall over night either. It took centuries...water drip effect.

We've become numb to how bad (and non factor) we are in SEC...thinking the "historically top 10 team" and "22 year run from 85' SEC championship thru 2007" makes any difference to today's recruits/players.

Realize off on a tangent here, but series of poor decisions the past decade has ruined our tradition...first starting with Fulmer's hiring of OC Clawson, and zooming past the decade, ending with head scratching decisions in red zone for not getting our best player the ball, or not coaching your QB to know to spike the ball with no TO's left.

Let's face it, we are Ole Miss, Arkansas, SC, except by some miracle, we still have top 5 fan base and facilities, and have now allowed UGA to be set up for a long run in SEC E, where we didn't step up while all were down. We lost our window...we didn't define the moment...the moments defined us. What to do...

The problem now is not just the coach ... it's the whole culture of accepting mediocrity. There is now an entire generation that has never experienced sustained winning.
