Kingdom Come Deliverance 2

I am. I loved the first one. It feels a lot more realistic than most games of this genre. Combat controls can take getting used to, but I have heard they streamlined them alot more in the second game.

I've heard so much about this game but I can't decide if it looks great or horrendously boring.

I actually re-upped my Gamefly account to rent this. Should be in the mail tomorrow. I loved the first game myself, but never got around to finishing it. Hearing that it's more streamlined than the first is comforting news. The combat controls were definitely a lot to get the hang of,but rewarding once you did.

I heard the lock picking in the first was very frustrating as well. It's supposed to be easier in the new one.

This being released motivated me to finally start playing the first one and I'm absolutely loving it. I spent probably 5-6 hours in the starting area alone leveling up various skills, breaking into/looting locked homes (lockpicking is indeed very difficult, but practice makes it a lot easier), stealthily knocking people out when they're alone and stealing their gear, etc. Reminds me of the hours I used to spend in Oblivion just looting everything in the Imperial City before setting out into the world.

Also, there's something refreshing about playing an open-world RPG that (presumably) has no fantasy elements. I do love Elder Scrolls and The Witcher 3, but realism is appreciated, too.

Just finished it. Absolute masterpiece. Larger RPG developers needs to take so many notes from this studio (looking at Bethesda).

It's early but this is absolutely a GOTY candidate. They nailed it.

They refined just about every rough edge from the first game. It's challenging, immersive, well written, and full of content to suit whatever mood you're in when you boot it up. Drinking, fighting, hunting, exploring, crafting... it's all engaging.

You forgot about the spell that lets Henry summon a horse and dog from anywhere at any time 🤣

But yeah, I'm right there with you.

55! Been super sick for the past week so I had nothing to do outside of studying, haha. Wish I had done more side content. I'll save it for the next playthrough down the road.

But yeah, I was hooked. I haven't binged a game like that in over 20 years. Reminded me of being 13 and pulling an all nighter at my friend's house playing Morrowind on his Xbox.

"Sigh" damnit I guess I'll have to go ahead and play it! Lol.

For the XSX, would y'all recommend the standard version or the deluxe? Any word on already-planned DLC?

I’m still hoping they do a Morrowind remake one day. Loved that game back in the day.

Is it worth $60?
Absolutely. FWIW, I am 28 hours in now and I have just now started what is considered to be the first big main quest of the game. I’m probably 1/4 to 1/5 of the way through. That was with me finally advancing because I was itching to do it. Not because I ran out of things to do. Also, the impatience is wearing off that I mentioned earlier. Once you get a good system down for getting coin, eating and sleeping then it really moves along easier once you’re not broke. Truly makes you feel helpless and earn your way at first. Once you do though, it’s incredible.

This is such a love and at times, hate, experience for me.

The world is amazing, questing and storylines (I’m only about 15 hours in and have barely moved outside of the starter area - I keep finding cool side quests and other things I want to do) are fantastic. I don’t mind the combat, but it definitely can be frustrating at times. Your choices have real impact and everything is not so clear cut in its outcome or morality.

I absolutely hate the save system though. I know, make potions, own beds, etc. But it is so counterintuitive and can be a “scream at the TV” moment when you go to save after a hard battle and it’s far past your real life bed time and you can’t save because of an injury, or you are out of potions, which turns into another crazy amount of time to address. Which also opens the door to better get all that accomplished and not get hurt or you’ll lose ALL that progress.

That gripe is probably more weighted to I don’t have a ton of time to game and it does certainly cause you to rethink what actions you take in game. But I still hate it.

I'm going to blow your mind.

There's a "Save and Quit" option on the pause menu that doesn't cost you a schnapps. Lol.

I assume they added it for instances in which you need to unexpectedly quit. I used it twice because any other way would have broken immersion for me.
