One thing I really haven't done on my PlayStation is actually play games. I've bought 3 iterations of The Show and that's it, outside of the free games i got for the hacking incident.

They gave you free games for the hacking incident? Anything good?

From what I'm seeing now, it seems more to be that they meant this as the Kinect 2.0 (/ its usage) wouldn't be necessary for gameplay, not so much that Xbox one would be sold or come without it.

Microsoft: Xbox One Will Never Come Without Kinect

"They are not separate systems."

Xbox One will always come with Kinect, according to Microsoft's Phil Harrison. Speaking with CVG, who verbally presumed the next-gen hardware would never not come packaged together, Harrison said, "Correct. Xbox One is Kinect. They are not separate systems. An Xbox One has chips, it has memory, it has Blu-ray, it has Kinect, it has a controller. These are all part of the platform ecosystem."

Microsoft recently confirmed to IGN that Xbox One would not require Kinect to function, but it seems the system will always come with it. Including it in the box presents enormous opportunity for developers, after all, who can tailor their games and apps around a device that every Xbox One owner has, regardless of whether or not they choose to use it.

Xbox One No Longer Requires Kinect to Function - IGN

Still not clear on whether or not MS will offer a Kinect-less sku at 100.00 cheaper but I'd be willing to bet that's coming.

Funny, all these grand plans MS had, and none of them made it through the summer! They "Romneyed" their way out of everything they originally wanted to do. Amazing just how clueless and out of touch they were! They're still not getting my money, f _ _ k you MS!

doesn't look to be so

I would be willing to bet that you will see it sometime in 2014

It all depends on Xbox One sales. If it struggles to move after the initial launch systems run dry, MS may very well offer a Kinect-less bundle at 399.99. Either that or just eat the cost and drop the price anyay.

If they are careful and Sony makes a big impact this Holiday season (if released in time), the damage done could be irreversible for the portion of the market that are not brand loyal.
