Monte will Def. be getting more than 1 mil. And Orgeron will be making at least 1 mil. Both of them are not going to take NFL Pay-Cuts to be assistants at UT. We are going to be dishing out big bucks, but its what you have to do to win these days. Reaves will also be making Buku bucks.

No way....

I can see Monte making more than a mil but not coach O. But hell if it wins us a NC in a couple of years it would be well worth the price.

Your right, I made a guess....but It will be over 750k. It could possibly be 1 mil, but he made 900k as head coach of Ole Miss. So I wouldn't doubt that at UT he could make about the same, even if he is a lower position. We simply want to win, and will dish out the money to do so.

Ed is probably making around 350K as DL coach of the saints, so if he wants to get back in the college game, he won't try and break the bank. If Monte wants to coach with his son it wont be about money.

If he only made 900k as HC at Ole Miss there is no way he makes more as a assistant/recruiting coordinator here initially. They win a SEC title or two and compete for a NC then I say give them enough bonuses to buy there soul.

NO! to Troop. We can hire someone for cheaper than 300k and teach them to wear there hats backward and chestbump. Hell I would do it for 50k. :p

Kiffen..2.6mil
Monte...1mil
Young dynamic OC who can learn from Kiffen...500k
Coach O D-line/recruiting...500k
rest of the staff...1.4mil

Total...6mil for quite possibly one of the top 5 coaching staffs in the nation. Seems worth it for me.

By the way just pulling numbers out my arse.

National Championship - Priceless!

According to TENNSTUD, Coach O not coming..... Here is his post:

"Scratch Orgeron's name from Lane Kiffin's staff. I just
received a call from Cortez Kennedy, now living in Orlando, who's next door neighbor is Lou Holtz, and he said that Ed(Ed Orgeron) told him that he wasn't going to join Lane at UT, that he loved Lane like a son but his family loved living where they do now in Louisiana, Ed likes the NFL, he doesn't have to recruit, so he's not going to Knoxville. Cortez says the Saints play Tampa at Tampa Sunday and he's going over for the game and will visit with Ed and the Saints coaches. Corez added a caveat, "this is how he feels right now." Time will tell but Ed telling Cortez he doesn't have to recruit as a reason not to rejoin the college game is most telling as recruiting is the main reason most folks wanted Ed, as he was relentless as a recruiter at Ole MIss and worked closely with Lane in recruiting at USC, I assume. Ed was Cortez coach at the U of Miami and is a close friend. Ole MIss had Cortez work on obtaining Ed for Ole MIss and Cortez was on stage at Ole MIss for Ed's introduction."

If Orgeron comes to UT, I think it's a distinct possibility we'll see Hugh Freeze (former TE/WR coach and Recruiting Coordinator at Ole Miss under Coach O) join the staff as well. He can recruit with the best of them, especially in West TN, which is tough for UT to recruit having to compete with Ole Miss, Alabama, and Arkansas in particular, which are all closer to Memphis than UT.

Not sure why some people think Ed Orgeron would get $800k-$1M, but he wouldn't get anything near that if he came as the D-line coach/Recruiting Coordinator. Maybe if he was the DC/Recruiting Coordinator then he would get ~$400k, but no more.

For comparison's sake, Georgia's D-line coach, who also happens to be their Recruiting Coordinator, makes $253,301/year. I don't think you would expect Orgeron to make any more than $300,000 considering that fact.

Oh, and it's not like he's making huge amounts of money with the Saints just b/c they're in the NFL. His salary here would be comparable to his with the Saints, I'm sure. Plus, he would get to come back to the college game, which he absolutely loves.
