Kiffin tips his hand

If I wrote a hypothesis on Al Wilson vs. Tim Tebow in the open field, I would call it "The Big Bang Theory.''
Wait, that's already been taken...

I'm pretty sure Wilson wins that battle. Didn't the LSU D-Line hurt him last year?

I like Kiffins thinking process already. I look at the way Fulmer recruited and it was going after good players and athletes then making a plan around them. Kiffin is saying here is "MY" plan and you'll either fit in it or in Boyd's case not no matter how good you are. The other thing is with Fulmer it was always shifting people around from what they played to another position. I think Kiffin is going after solid position players and no more of this DB to WR or a RB to a LB stuff.

" You've also got to like Kiffin's honesty with Boyd; so many times, teams will take a grab-bag approach, tell a guy what he wants to hear, then once he's in camp, shift him somewhere else. Ultimately, that's not good for the player or team.

Kiffin realizes how valuable each recruit will be as he attempts to rebuild the program in his mold as quickly as possible. He knows what he wants and has a plan on how he'll use each player."

Man that describes Fulmer's approach to a T. Grab all the stars you can get regardless of fit and then try to sort it out on the practice field...no wonder we were always slow out of the gate.

*Whew*

Any idea who it might be?

Actually, it reminds me of a story. Right before the end of my first semester at UT, our RA called an all-floor meeting and announced that he was stepping down and that a new RA would be in place in January. One of the guys raised his hand and asked, "Could we just replace you with a keg of beer? We'd see it about as often as we see you, and it would provide alcohol with none of the sass."

Could Adkins be replaced with a keg of beer? It wouldn't take up much space, it wouldn't need to be paid, and although it wouldn't help the line it would be less of a liability.

mmmmm beer :)
whats a RA ?

Would probably even be an asset for recruiting.

From what I hear the beer barrel that was the trophy for the Tennessee/ Kentucky game isn't doing anything right now.

Nice clip on ESPN on how Tebow rallied the troops after the Ole Miss loss. Al Wilson is a good comparison, imo, especially in the team leadership sense (don't know about style, but the effect was extraordinary for both).

If the Gators win the SECCG, Tebow deserves his 2nd Heisman for both his on and off-field leadership which will have made him the MVP in CFB, again.

A lot of people want to give it to Colt McCoy, but I think that would be more of 'spreading the wealth' perspective.

Fourth sec B if I remember correctly. Our room looked out at the original Fiji frat house.

7th for me.

The weirdest part of the year consisted of a drug raid on a room on our floor, complete with me standing in the hallway watching and being told by a KPD officer (who was slipping on an elbow-length rubber glove) that "You might want to go back in your room for this part."

Don't forget about Sam Bradford...he has put up better numbers than anyone. Granted, Tebow has a great case with the way he has led his team this year but I think Sam's stats win out.

As long as Oklahoma takes care of Mizzou I think Bradford will be your Heisman winner.

I have a vote...you have to take into consideration how poor the Big 12 defenses truly are this season...and how good the SEC defenses are

I like it, Mike. Good story with some good insight.

I do think Kiffin has a plan and not only does he know what he wants he knows what he doesn't want as well...which sometimes is more important.

This article also gives insight as to why Boyd might not have fit his system. I've heard Boyd's accuracy and athleticism hyped but never his arm. It sounds like Kiffin doesn't think Boyd would stretch the field enough and that excites me.

Exactly. The idea is that a QB must be able to stretch the field with his arm or, if he does not have a strong arm, then he can put pressure the defense by being a running threat. Obviously, under Kiffin's system they are not going to be running the QB out of any type of spread system. Therefore, it is imparitive that the QB put pressure on the defense by being able to stretch the defense with the deep ball. Kiffin felt that Boyd did not have the arm strength to do that.

I think the offensive coordinator is more deserving of credit than Tebow this year.

This is a great point. We effectively haven't been able to either get the ball down the field or run the ball consistenly for 3 years now and turned into a bad hybrid of the Run and Shoot.

Enter D. Moore... I swear the kid only catches passes over 30 yards
