Heard this on a Sports Talk show---WNSP--105.5---Guy said that both were recruiting talent in Mobile and that Thompson would be interviewed on the show. Ut currently has one player from Mobile; DE--Willie Bohannon. I don't know who they are after, but Mobile has a ton of D-1 talent. Anyone with info feel free to post. The interview on "Sports Drive" can be followed at wnsp.com---probably between 5 and 6 central.

I do know that Davidson HS has been a prime target for recruiters this season. I may go for a drive-by--only 10 minutes away.

Is that Monte or Lane with Thompson? It would sound more likely that it would be Monte since Lane is going to be in N. GA tonight.

Looking at the 2010 top 250, the only guy I see with in 3 hours of Mobile is C.J Mosley. Linebacker who has Tennessee listed.

Lane. Probably fly in----make a pitch, and head to N.GA.
Thompson may be staying---since the interview is with Lance only. LT could be taking in a game here tonight. These guys are working!

Could be Lane, seems that he can be in many places at once. I'm sure he can be in Mobile today and Atlanta tonight using the UT plane. The rumor is he will fly into the game tonight via helicoptor...which would make sense if he's landing close to game time and needed to avoid the Atlanta traffic to get to the game. Also looks damned impressive.

Long time lurker, first time post but I had to say it's great that the coaches are hitting up this area. There's some serious talent here, i.e. Julio Jones, D.J. Fluker and our very own Willie Bohannon to name a few. Big time bammer stranglehold though but if there's anyone who can break it it's CLK

They may be trying to steal someone committed elsewhere--(Alabama)? Announcer said they are definintely recruiting here in Mobile. Nothing in the paper, probably will run it tomorrow--after it is over.

Could also be the 2011 class. I was just thinking time wise and all the top 250 recruits there are several hours away except that one guy is 17 minutes from Mobile.

Should be interesting to find out later tonight. I will be flying tonight so please post something in here so that I can keep up when I get back.

Welcome!

Have we had any players out of the Mobile area since Tee Martin?

You got it---I will be listening and will post what I hear. You are right, they could be working on 2011---but you know Kiff----he isn't shy about trying to steal one. :)

LT won't get into specifics---against the rules, but the commentators may opine.

Yeah that's tough sledding in Mobile. Bama pretty much gets who they want out of there.
Yep. Plus LSU, Auburn, FSU and UF are all a lot closer geographically than UT. Despite CLTs connections there, UT will probably have a very tough time pulling top talent from the Mobile area.

IMO, besides north GA, one of the best areas for UT to focus on would be the Carolinas. Serious talent there and UT is so close by. Moms & Dads want to be able to easily drive to their son's home games and have him visit home more often. Bama has a tough time pulling from there due to the distance from T-Town, but UT should be able to have good success in those states.

True not to mention the Aubies as well. There's still plenty of talent to go around though, look at Pat White at WVU and Jamarcus Russell at LSU.

Hell, Mobile to Knoxville is 500 miles and one game will automatically be in Tuscaloosa every other year. That drive is similar to some of the Carolinas. Just cause you don't want us to recruit Alabama boys doesn't mean that we won't.
