I'm thinking that Texas A&M turning the corner this season has made the powers-that-be at Texas a little nervous... and Herman is not recruiting very well at the moment. His problems went much deeper than just wins and losses.
What are his problems? Not that us Vol fans would be able to identify coaching problems.

So Texas will fire a guy who has gone 32-18, played for a conference title, won four bowls in four years, including a Sugar Bowl but we cannot move on from a guy that has gone 16-19 and has one lucky comeback bowl win? This complacency is why our program is where it is at right now.

Amen....

32-18 and making to the conference championship game is a lot better than 16-19 and getting lucky to beat Indiana last year.
Okay? The question is not if he’s better than Pruitt, a lot of people would be on that list. The post I was responding to said they’d take Herman in a heartbeat. There’s nothing in his resume to suggest that he’d be successful here. Again if he couldn’t get it done at Texas, which is arguably the best job in the country and in a much weaker conference, what makes you think that he’d be good here?

Then why haven’t they won jack in 10 years?
Mack lost his momentum after the title game loss to Bama. They replaced him with Charlie Strong, and then replaced Strong with Herman. Hire mediocre coaches, get mediocre results.

This is precisely why we suck and will suck for the foreseeable future. Successful programs make moves and quick moves when things aren’t working out. We are fine settling for losing seasons and the occasional Liberty Bowl bid. Vanderbilt East.

He would be solid here. He rebuilt Houston. He was a very good OC at several different schools. He has name recognition, is young, and would be able to recruit at a high level. He could expand our recruiting territory.

But if you want to keep your loser Grump and Fulmer and keep things as they are, go ahead.

That’s why they’re making a change. The Not hard to figure out.
How many changes did Alabama make before finally getting it right with Saban. If a coach isn’t producing what he was brought there to do, then it’s time to go. Definitely not give them a raise and contract extension like our DA, AD.

If Sark couldn't control his demons at USC, coaching in Austin is 10x more hectic due to all of the booster coddling you have to do....
