my biggest worry was that Kiffin or Reaves will throw us under the bus big time. I mean the death threats to Kiffin and everything else that happened to him might be in the back of his mind and think screw UT. Then Reaves could be trying to screw over mr. brother in law becasue he couldn't join the party out West. These things scare me.

But,... I also think that if these guys open up a whole new can of worms then I think they may be committing career suicide. who would want to keep or hire guys who did this and then threw the school under the bus?

Thoughts?

I think Kiffin is almost arrogant enough to act now and damn the consequences, so I'm not sure he'll hold back if he perceives any benefit to himself in the short term. Reeves might be a little more calculating but he doesn't have quite as much to lose, so not sure how I think he'll react.

I'm still hoping that we've made a solid case to the NCAA regarding our efforts towards compliance - and hoping those will go a long way to mitigate our punishment. I feel like they are more concerned with raking Kiffin's ass along the coals than ours. Reeves is somewhat the fall guy.

Between voice mail on Lat's phone and receipts with Reaves' signature, do any of us really know what could happen?

In economics this is called the prisoner's dilemma. It usually produces rational irrationality. If Reaves keeps his mouth shut, he can probably keep his gig in NM. But maybe if he spills the beans and rats out bro-in-law the NCAA will write him a reference letter. :dunno:

The outcome will probably be somewhere between the Kiffin lickers and the doomsayers.

I think Hammy will hang both coaches. I think Hammy knows "stuff". Kiffin and Reaves only have themselves to blame. Will be interesting.

Clarification: I'm no Kiffin fan, understand that loud and clear.

Too late for any regrets. Vicious fans who paid for a billboard in California, fans who sent gross and basically unflattering messages to LK & Co., and other rather public jilted girlfriend behavior, don't be surprised if Kiffin uses the NCAA meeting as payback. A fair number of people on the board and elsewhere tried to admonish fans that Kiffin was gone and just forget he was ever here. People wouldn't listen, UT fans' vendetta made national sports news and it went on and on and on. I hope Kiffin rises above this and not throw us under the bus but if he doesn't and screws us more, those who couldn't let go that he left us, you reap what you sow.

There's no way for Lane to "screw" UT without getting himself fired at USC.

Do you know what crabs do when you toss them in a bucket?

Woodsman, what do the fans reaction or actions have to do with the AA violations? I hear ya but I don't think the AA will care what the fans did after he left.

How deep can it get in breaking the rules in 1 year? its not like SMU or tOSU and have this stuff going on for years.

We will find out how much MH loves UT if he backs us, and I think he will because he did say he would maybe try and be an AD somewhere else eventually. If he spills the beans he can guarantee no one will give him a chance.

I think its funny how we crucify someone when they do us wrong and they have dirt on us and hope that they don't repay the favor. Sat will be an uneasy day but we can also finally move forward.

I'm dim so please explain how these guys could "throw us under the bus" without hurting themselves.

"They knew I was doing it."
"I was doing it, they found out I was doing it and did nothing to stop me from doing it."
"I was doing it, they found out I was doing it and made me stop doing it."
"I was doing it. I left and then they discovered I was doing it and never told anyone I was doing it."

This makes no sense, whatever happened was Kiffin's responsibility. Kiffin would probably be best served to keep as low a profile as possible.

Hammy is the one that is probably in a position to do Kiffin additional damage.

Hammy has $1.3M reasons to back UT.

If he tries to get back at UT then he screws himself. He cant walk in there talking about how bad things we re being run, when he was the damn head coach! The ncaa cant punish us the fans for anything sent, said or done to Kiffin. Worse case scenario let him run his mouth in Indy and Kiffin will find himself out of the college game for good! GO VOLS!

What crabs do is whenever one is just about to escape, the other one will pull the escapee back in. If it’s just the one crab, it’ll definitely escape, but if you put more than one crab in, the others will always pull it back down with the rest of them

I dunno, what do crabs do when you throw them in a bucket???

When one of them tries to climb out of the bucket, the other pulls it back down. Thus the allegory for the potential Kiffin conduct at the NCAA meeting.

What you say is true. I do offer this: Never underestimate the stupidity of people.

I never said NCAA would punish the fans (really dumb idea), but if Kiffin badmouths the UT and causes NCAA to bring the hammer down on us (the UT football program), his motivation may be payback for the fans who couldn't stop acting like jilted girlfriends. He'd hurt the fans by hurting their team. I think this was the obvious train of thought. NCAA punish fans??? ABSURD!

When you throw a bunch of crabs in a bucket, they all shake hands...I mean claws...I mean they just reach out and grab something to pinch hard and not let go.

About this hearing...after Coach Pearl got hammered for evading the truth, I think all concerned might just tell the truth as they know it, especially if they have any reason to think there is other evidence on it. Whatever happened, happened.
