Kiffin proves himself against Bama

"It's a game we shoulda won,'' Lane Kiffin said on his post-game radio show after the loss to Bama. "It's a game we'll win next year.''

Contrast that to Nick Saban's immediate on-field comments: "I think we were tired. We played like we were tired.''

love it. absolutely love it.

Nice , but i still want to puke. About the only thing that would make me feel better is beating the crap out of Spurrier's lame cocks.

I think you'll get your wish. After this game... I don't see how we lose another game this year.

So Bama was tired and Florida had the flu. What's Spurrier's excuse going to be when we beat him next week?

The loss stings, but showing the country how much heart we have and how much better we are compared to last year. Hope for the future is very bright. SEC better take notice. We are back!

Ole Miss is still a toss-up IMO. However, I don't see us losing to anybody else. The Ole Miss game will decide if we win 7 or 8 this year + a possible bowl win to make it 8 or 9 wins.

Really? I'm dying at the bit to see Jevan Snead play against us. He's a worse headcase than Crompton.

I expect us to win the rest of our games. If we don't win them, then we aren't playing up to our potential.

I for one couldnt belive the game Crompton had against that defense!I knew ST would cost us,,but I never imagined it would be the FG kicking,,at least not 1-4 with 2 blocks,,the blocking was HORRID to say the least and the kicks where low,,only bad coaching I saw all night was players didnt know the blocked kick was a live ball.No one except Bama even LOOKED at it laying there on the ground!!GRRRRR

I don't want to sound like a killjoy but I remember that even Shula was able to keep games close. CLK will be a force when he wins some of these games. Nevertheless, the game was entertaining and a hell of a lot better result than what the last guy would have done.

if the fat guy was on the side lines, the game would have been over at half time.

Snead played pretty well against Arkansas today.

He still threw two picks. He doesn't look completely confident. You get pressure on him he folds like George W. Bush about the Iraq War or Obama about healthcare. You put pressure on him, consistent pressure, he is done.

Great article, Griff. I completely agree that Kiffin outcoached Saban. I hope in all the talking points after the game it is not lost that Kiffin had the moxie to go for it twice on fourth down, once on our side of the field. Something that would have never happened under Fulmer. Also, I thought the coaches made some great adjustments at the half, particularly on defense.

I don't think he proved himself in one game. Heck, Arkansas should have beat Florida last week. What I see is a coach who gathered together one of the best coaching staffs in the country. He improved our recruiting significantly and our play calling is bold and methodical. His players are disciplined (for the most part) and he has a confidence and swagger that bleeds over to players and fans. He has been in all the games this year and brought a struggling quarterback from bust to bomb. That's where he proved it to me.

I said some things about Kiffin earlier in the year about not doing all he could do to coach us to a win over Florida and then Auburn. Since those games, I've been impressed with our game plans, both on offense and defense (ST is another story). I think CLK and staff are really working hard, as are the players on both sides of the ball. While we had a few individual mistakes today, by and large the entire team executed well. Also, today we got the "good" JC again and I and pray that the "evil" JC is gone for good. Some of those passes against the Tide were amazingly accurate. He's really, really become a different QB, regardless of why.

IMO we have good reason to believe our program is in good hands and over the next couple of seasons, we'll have a team that will compete with any in the country.
