Kiffin plans to play REAL football this spring...

No Such Thing As …: Kiffin said he’s not concerned that UT has received what most would consider bad press for allegations against other coaches and minor NCAA violations.
“It has helped a lot,” Kiffin said. “For our program to be in the news so much now — not just locally but nationally.

Interesting how he reacted to the "bad press" question.

A "Full Contact" spring will be interesting, sounds like a separation period. I like.

Id like to see some of those first string off vs. first string def. practices.

As far as I know, that's what Lane has always done. Getting to coach against the best defensive mind in the game is going to pay dividends when the season starts on offense.

Yeah...honestly as an offensive coordinator how awesome would it be to play Monte Kiffin in practice everyday? Can you say advantage

I appreciate the fact the scrimmages will be held with no QB in green jerseys. CLK wants to see who gives us the best chance in real game time situations...All I can say to that is buh bye Crompton.

I wonder how difficult their offense will be to learn. Kiffin is brilliant for building his offense around the players abilities. You saw what happened last year when we tried to mold players around an offensive scheme. It put them in situations where they felt uncomfortable because they werent sure they had the ability to do what was asked. Could you imagine leaving practice everyday confused? Thats why our offense struggled last year. You have to be 100% sure of your assignment on offense for it to work properly IMO.

They picked the wrong players based on seniority to run the offense.

When asked if the offense is going to look exactly like USC's, Kiffin has said they're going to build the offense around the players that they have rather than the other way around.

While there will still obviously be some learning on the part of the players, it doesn't sound like they're (the coaches) going to just have one thing in their mind that they're going to do even if the players can't handle it.

While I don't disagree with making the QBs fair game, it's going to suck for us if one of our QBs becomes injured since we only have three on the roster.

thanks for the read eric. good to see that our coach is more concerned with the team, than what scattered newspaper writers think of him.

if the qb's would stop quitting on the play after they've thrown the ball then they wouldn't get hurt. I used to have a coach that would say throw then find somebody to block.

I agree Voodoomonkey, but at this point it's just a free for all,and I'm sure if one of them looked like a "special" QB, he would get a bit more special treatment.Basically what I'm saying is all 3 have sucked pretty bad,and until one of them steps up,all of them are not protected.

I remember back in 97 , after Nebraska trounced us ...Fulmer being a huge Osborne fan ...went to Osborne and asked where he thought the Vols went wrong . T.O. advised him that the Vols were not physical enough and weren't prepared to play physical football . In response Phil trashed the greenies ( at least for a while ) and started an off season program to beef up the O and D lines ....we all know what happened in 98 . A physical NC winning team .

Sorry guys , can't tell you the exact source of the article since it has been 10 years ...but that is the heart of it . Kiff sounds like he has the right mindset going forward
