“Phenomenal recruiter, arguably the best defensive coordinator in all of college football and a great teacher. He was a high school coach, anytime that you have to teach guys at that level, you don’t get all five-stars,” Kiffin continued. “Just being around him, I sat next to him every day in staff meetings, he’s extremely intelligent, high school coaches love him — which will go a long ways in recruiting.

“Tennessee is going to be back really soon.”

Lane Kiffin believes Jeremy Pruitt could turn Tennessee into Playoff contender within two years

Anyone still mad at a 33 year old leaving to take his dream job making millions of dollars in Los Angeles is just a bitter, unhappy, crazy person... He has made amends since then and everyone should have moved on by now... I think it's obvious Kiffin actually does like Tennessee...

I’m not sure if he actually likes Tennessee or is just lobbying for his next job.

If he wants to get out of FAU he needs to show maturity. I think it’s mostly just an act.

I agree, but i think it's still ok to not want him to coach here.

Well I do agree... What am I supposed to do with my last 6 mattresses?

Kiffin still needs to grow up some, but I agree. I let that bitterness go a long time ago. That situation was a series of very unlikely and unfortunate events that unfolded and we just happened to be on the receiving end of it. Kiffin wasn't anywhere near the top of SC's list of candidates and they were the only school that he was going to leave us for. How every other coach who turned them down could see the probation coming and Lane couldn't, I'll never know but evidently he was willing to take the risk. Now I blame the administration more for not handling our program, post-Kiffin than I do Kiffin himself.

Agreed. I am tired of the Kiffin hate. Kiffin has said he's sorry in every possible way. Those showing no class are those who still hate him.

Yea, leaving without telling anyone resulting in putting us in a terrible situation is liking Tennessee a lot.

He could have handled it better.

If he wanted out of FAU he wouldnt have signed a 10 year contract. He will eventually go up, but it'll be for the perfect situation.

Is it ok to dislike him because he recruited a bunch of troublemakers to our school, got us in trouble with the 'AA with his recruiting tactics, and acts like a jackass as much as he can for attention?

Asking for a friend.

So it's not okay to hold disdain for a guy who acted totally unprofessional, brought NCAA scrutiny upon the program, and acted like a total a-hole? And how exactly has he made amends? He says a couple of nice things and suddenly he's a good guy? It's not about being bitter. He's gone, and I'm glad. But at the end of the day, I just don't like the guy.

If this is some kind of lovefest, y'all need to start doling out your forgiveness to Hamilton, Hart, Currie, Dooley, Butch, Cheek, and Haslam, too. All of them, including Lane, played their part in the slide of UT to where we are today. Not going to live in the past, but not going to sugarcoat it either.

I love Lane. He is a Steve Spurrier-level offensive genius with the Pro Style and just as witty on the twittersphere. When the Pruitt era is over, and hopefully it lasts over a decade, I’d be ecstatic if UT could hire Lane and let bygones be bygones. We’d win a lot under him.

What are you talking about, he held a press conference. Now it was short and he bolted right after, be he let it be known he was leaving.

Yep, he's handling it better now -- if he'd had said "6-7 years," I would have known he still hasn't grown up.

I would have taken lane kiffin back in a heart beat and I know I'm in the minority on this one. Dudes out there but he never disappoints with his words.

I'm a huge fan of lane Kiffin. I never faulted him for leaving. We all have the right to leave any of our jobs when we like. This comment I enjoy reading. But I wouldn't say Kiffin likes Tennessee based off this. He probably genuinely likes Jeremy Pruitt.

I agree 100% with you. Kiffin loves it here in Boca Raton at FAU right now. He is a avid fisherman, lives on the water and has a nice boat and goes out fishing with his kids all the time plus he has it made at FAU with no pressure. 7-9 wins a year pretty much guaranteed and he can stay at FAU forever plus he is literally in the hotbed of recruiting in South Florida.

He might stay for a while unless the money is really good to get out.
