Kiffin Hire from a Los Angeles Perspective

Except for some pro-USC honks, the local press has been excoriating USC AD Mike Garrett for his hiring of Kiffin. They don't like Kiffin's youth, his style, his handling of the UT recruits and his general sleaziness. Of course as a Bruin I think it's a match made in heaven now that Maude is in Seattle.

If you can find recent columns by L.A. Times writer T.J. Simers you will see what I mean. He rips Garrett up one side and down the other.

Out of solidarity with UT I will wear a Vol jersey to the USC-UCLA game this year and I will try to get other Bruins to do likewise. Wouldn't it be cool to see several hundred Vol jerseys in the Bruin rooting section?

The Bruins seem to be leading the program in the right direction, and I have nothing but respect for them. I hope they beat the snot out of USC for years to come.

I, also, no longer dislike UCLA. I hope they hang 100 on Lame Kitten and make him cry.

Hey man...I'm a Tennessee transplant, now in the LA area (Diamond Bar), and we might have to link up for that game. I'll definitely have to try and score a ticket. Looking forward to chanting "Kiffin is a Punk."

UCLA is fast becoming a team I want to root for. That would be too cool to wear a Bruin cap and a UT Jersey....cheering hard for the Bruins. :) A friend here was boasting on Wednesday how Chow would join Kiffin...I told him he must be on crack. Kiffin had one of the most prolific OC's on staff last year, yet he insisted on calling plays. USC couldn't pay Chow enough to be in a similar role under a former subordinate...and snot-nosed punk.

Sure enough, he turned them down. Is Walker still the DC at UCLA? If so...that guy is one hell of a coordinator.

Anybody that beats USC next year should play Rocky Top. What's Kif gonna say then? "Uh I can't hear you, they're playing Rocky Top."

Bruleif, I just wanted to say that you & every other UCLA fan that I have been friends with or had the pleasure of meeting are some of the classiest fans in all of of college football.

As much as it pained me to see my vols lose to your team twice in the past two years, I took comfort in kindness & humility of the bruin nation.

It would be amazing if you could fill the Rose Bowl with orange =)! I hope you continue to beat the USC coach like you did here last year, haha. Take Los Angeles back UCLA!

Go UCLA! Beat USC!.......Go Vols!

I just sent a nice friendly letter humbly urging them them to play Rocky Top after UCLA beats the Trojans next year. :)
