Kiffin doesn't lack for much

Griff, in your opinion, what was the "real" reason Smith was let go? I hardly believe it was just because Kiffin changed his mind.

I think we are all waiting on the first snap. There will be plenty of adversity for this staff after that. Until then we will celebrate the recruiting victories, and the fact that the brightest defensive coach in the land and the best recruiter in the NCAA (save RG perhaps) are both roaming our sidelines.

What has happened that is really all that controversial to date?

They thought Ausmus was better and fit what they wanted more....it is a key hire, and $400,000 might ultimately prove to be a drop in the bucket if the guy they call "Double A'' is as good as I've heard.

$400,000 will be a wise investment if it pays off which I think it will. S@C is a huge part of a successful program. Why not refuse to settle for anything less than the best? Once we start winning championships, the money will be well spent for revenue brought into the university.

this article sucks, is there no news???

What about some pics of Bryce Brown working out and summer weigh lifting reports or freakin anything to do with how our freshman are doing so far?

even some freshmen profiles pieces would be better than listening to opinions

I bet you said the same thing about Mike Price...I know I did.

Our society has become much more tolerant and forgiving.

And there's a priority to win like never before. Orgeron certainly can get talent to come....and it's the Jimmys and Joes as much as the Xs and Os

We are not allowed access right now...I'm sure when the doors open the KNS will be first in line.

I agree, I want to see Brown in action, too.

Ed Orgeron will be here well past 2 years. When Monte leaves, O will take over as defensive coordinator and after a couple of superb seasons, he may get another job. At least I think that's what he thinks.

Orgeron is much better suited as a DL coach/DC/RC.

I think this is the First real mistake that Kiffen has made that might show signs of an ego problem in Lane. it couls have been on the part of the old SC, but he seemed to get along with Spurrier so I don't think so. Hopefully Kifffen will learn from his mistake, get the problem solved, what ever it might be, and continue to build a great team. I still stand behind coach, and beleive he is building something great. Go Vols

So the rumors of Smith inability to share the facilities with other Vol programs or Monte Kiffin's distaste for him is unfounded or all that contributed to not being a good fit?

Good griff man you want to stir the stuff up so much till it stinks so bad that yourself will get noticed. One example. you say there is an open checkbook to Kiffin and the program is a bare face lie from hell. there is no way this is true. you fail.

Remember the time-line of hires and fires. One of the first fires was Johnny no for Long so the program was without a head S&C coach at a critical time. One of the first hires was the QB coach from SC. Kiffin needed an S&C coach ASAP and his brother-in-law probably highly recommended Smith and by all accounts seemed exactly what we needed. Apparently, needs some investigation, there was confusion about Arasmus' availability at that time. Remember things were coming into place at a furious pace.

When O arrived and started working with Smith is when things started to go south. Given what they're trying to accomplish I'd rather get it right now, then have it fester into the season. Chemistry on a staff like this is incredibly important. Just look at last year as an example of poor staff chemistry.

All great coaches have huge egos. Orgeron probably is more suited being an assistant, but he'd take a solid head coaching job in an instant, and he'd hardly be the the first guy hired on recruiting alone.

It seems there are guys that are better being not the top guy. Anyone know why M Kiffin isn't a HC?
