I get so sick of this "coach speak" where the coaches call out on or more players in the media in an effort to motivate them. This is what Fulmer said about the kicking game.

"I'm not set on anything yet," Fulmer said this week. "Lincoln missed two or three kicks (Tuesday) morning, and Britton made his, so Britton may be doing all the kicking.

He has already said that most likely Lincoln will be handling short kicks with Britton doing 40+. I mean, how dumb does he think his players are?

I don't really consider the kicking game as part of the real coach speak to motivate them. You're either making kicks or you're not, and if you aren't being consistent, then the team will go with the best guy. The ball goes in or it doesn't. It's not a matter of lacking technique, but being in the right place, or running good routes but dropping a couple balls. You either put it through the goal posts, or you don't. Maybe they thought Lincoln was further along than he really is.

Actually technique has a lot to do with kicking but I'm with you on the rest of your post. Not hard to tell who's doing better when watching.

To say that motivation doesn't have a great deal to do with success on the field regardless of position is ridiculous. I don't buy that.

A kid can be motivated all day long, but if he's not putting them through the uprights, it doesn't matter. Kicking field goals is very black and white.

I was referring to like a DT or something, they can have good technique, but not be in the right place, or bad technique but be in a good position to do something. Wasn't really clear, my bad.
