I am glad Kevin got an NFL job. It just sucks that he will get a check from Jerry Jones.

What i love about Simon is he came 3,000 miles away to play football, & he is a vol at heart all the way. He never gave up when many of us would at certain points of his career. Billy Ratliff was a big hearted player also. They both just loved to play football.
You're exactly right. The other Kevin is doing just fine in Dallas.

Good for Simon.

Now all the people who thought it was the end of the world when Kiffin let him go can put up the tissues.

I don't remember anyone being concerned that the world was ending nor do I remember the shedding of tears.

What I do recall was that some, me included, thought the University's reputation was diminshed when it allowed Coach Kiffin to disregard the University's commitment to its GA's (including, but not limited to, Kevin Simon) by his untimely and unjustified mid-year terminations of their assistantships. Three factors enhancing my criticism of that action were: 1) they were without cause; 2) the GA's were not warned of any potential action and they weren't terminated until after the semester had already started; and 3) the apparent reason for the terminations was the highly questionable plan to free up GA space so a 50 something year old, recently unemployed, coach could be added to the staff in questionable compliance with NCAA and SEC staff limitations.

Yea, I'm glad Kevin Simon found a job. Kevin's obtaining employment, however, doesn't change the fact that UT allowed its new Head Coach to act disloyally to somebody who has the status that Coach Kiffin has yet to earn---Kevin Simon is a Vol. The University---and I really mean the Athletic Department---owed the GA's loyalty and honor, and it failed on both counts.

Like many fans, I thought it was time for a coaching change. Some things that are happening with the new staff are very exciting. Some, like this incident, are causing me concern.

No tears, just disappointment. :bad:

There was no committment towards the GAs. They could have just as well been let go under Fulmer for no reason.

The GAs don't deserve a warning before they lost their positions.

#1 and #3 contradict each other. Even if #3 is so, Kiffin simply not wanting them around anymore is reason enough.

Free graduate schooling is loyal enough in this case.

Also, think about this for a minute. If Tennessee can say "We'll see ya" to Johnny Majors (a Tennessee legend who left a NC winning team to come back home) and Fulmer (a guy that was at UT for almost all of his coaching career) I just don't understand the sudden outcry for some 20-something kid that played for Tennessee being told his services aren't no longer needed. Other than the old guard just wanting to find reasons to nit-pick at Kiffin.

Highly questionable? It was the greatest move in the history of GAs. No rules were broken.

Woe is the day we have some leadership thinking outside the box and bringing in nothing but the best into every position available to make Tennessee the best.

Its amazing. We have a former BCS conference OC working for free, well practically free. Tuition keeps going up.
