Kevin Burnett and Roger Goodell are good friends.

I think he said "with all due respect" before it, so that means he gets to say whatever he wants... that's in the Geneva Conventions, look it up

Too bad he doesn't say why he's a liar, or what he said that's untrue.

Ranting and raving about drugs... sounds like Kevin Burnett has a drug problem.

This might be my favorite part...

"Because they suspend players outside of playing football. Is that their responsibility? No. They want us to be upstanding citizens, but if you want us to be upstanding citizens, you have to understand your role as well," he said. "In my contract, it says nothing about me being an upstanding citizen. ... That's what bothers me."
So... Kevin Burnett wants to be a piece of ****. Sounds like he is well on his way judging by his ignorant way of thinking.

With all due respect, and I do mean with all due respect. This thread isn't worth a dog shat.

I love Kevin Burnett and I don't give a **** what he says about Roger Goodell. If that's the way he feels, so be it. Who am I to judge. I don't know the inner workings of the NFL.

I don't think Kevin Burnett knows either.

Not sure what the problem is here. Goodell does suck and has for a good while. Suggesting that the NFL should have a protocol for helping players deal with drug problems rather than just punish them for the sake of punishing them isn't a bad thing.

Why?

If I get caught doing drugs, I get arrested. They'll throw me in jail and fine me. Not going to offer my rehab expenses when I get out.

The NFL is running their business the same way the country is run.

These guys are paid millions of dollars to play a game. How long do you want the NFL to baby these ingrates? It's not their job to feed the players ego and hold their hand when they cross the street. They are already giving them millions of dollars.

Adrian Peterson is a slave and Albert Haynesworth refuses to work after getting 50 million up front. "I don't want to play in this system".

F the players. They blow goats and I hope the stupid ones who piss their money down the drain end up working at Walmart.

Regarding the above, You (don't take this the wrong way ....even though I know you will) are normal. These players have value that you don't.

Save yourselves a great deal of trouble and stop comparing the rules that apply to you to those that professional athletes, entertainers, etc... live by.

.....it's not fair, but what is?

Why? He didn't say anything that bad. Just how he felt.

I don't have any problem with him feeling that way, or saying it to his teammates, but saying it in the media is classless. Calling someone a liar in the media is not a savvy negotiating tactic; is is just plain dumb. This is the same kind of useless posturing some politicians use these days. At some point the real arguments get lost in all the name calling.

It's also not their job to drug test these guys.

And Goodell sucks for a lot of reasons. He's inconsistently punished players for conduct violations. The way he handled the Patriots video-taping fiasco was terrible. About all the rules that have been implemented under him have been outright terrible or poorly implemented.

Burnett is not the 1st to call the NFL a liar and the owners are full of it for saying they going broke but refusing to prove it. The Good Ole NFL is not going to screw players because the players are going to limit that BS personal conduct policy by ensuring an appeal process is added, add a rookie pay scale like the NBA. KB is just sharing the same sentiment that all the other players have and they are only getting millions while the owners' billions are still coming in. KB was not saying he is going to be a hoodlum! He is saying, for the social ignorant and incompetent, that Law enforcement and courts, not Judge Goodell, should handle conduct of players. Afterall, what has Goodell done?

Other words, these individuals are investments worth millions of dollars who are in a profession that can allow help for certain issues like normal people EAP programs. Imagine that, you have access to drug counseling, Alcoholic counseling, anger management, etc. Just like these pros and celebrities. Their policies are worth millions and ours are thousand! Thank you for your post b/c some people on here think if you get a speeding ticket or smoke a joint, you're a disgrace but they do the same thing and their $h!+ don't stink.
