Well, is he right? I don't agree, but am wondering what others might think about his comments.

ESPN panelist decries pre-game national anthem as

“I’m going to sell,” said Mr. Blackstone, The Blaze reported. “And if you sell this along with me, you should also be selling the rest of the military symbolism embrace of sports — whether it’s the singing of a war anthem to open every game, whether it’s going to get a hotdog and being able to sign up for the Army at the same time, whether it’s the NFL’s embracing of the mythology of the Pat Tillman story. It’s been going on in sports since the first National Anthem was played in the World Series back in 1917 and it’s time for people to back away.”

My thoughts?

Mister Blackstone obviously never had the honor of serving his nation in uniform and has zero idea of the concept of national pride. If his lack of education about our national anthem is an issue, that's his problem.

His choice to be an anti-military **** head. My choice to change the channel and not listen to him.

Welcome to the new America, where we have turned out millions of "educated" idiots who think they are not morons. Coming from the guy who had to spend, neh, get his student loans to become a journalist.

Let's see if this fits, these people are so smart they need a 4 year degree to reinforce the complicated info gathering skills of:
Who
What
When
Where
Why
and sometimes how.

Why not just get rid of America while he's at it?

Agree with all of these. Blackstone, in likely trying to grab some exposure by stirring the pot a bit, may regret ever making these comments.

Needs to be fired. if people like Rush can be fired for something they say . then this pot should be fired

how many people did Rush and Imus offend with their statements? Compared to how many Americans of all races this POT has offended?

Being patriotic.. And to recognize the history and struggles of our people to be free with a song before games is not showing blind allegiance!

Assuming that he is un-American because he doesn't see the need for the anthem before a baseball game is just stupid. If you wanna feel patriotic go fight our government for freedom, don't fight for a custom to be observed in the entertainment industry.

I'm sure George Washington is rolling around in his grave at the thought of the anthem not being played before a stupid game.

Patriotism is blind allegiance. Pledge allegiance to Freedom, not to any one nation.

This is pretty close to how I feel.

Most people mistake nationalism for patriotism. Nationalism = blind allegiance.

Patriotism is allegiance to your community. Not your state government. Not your national government.

Do you sit or stand when they play it at games? if you stand you are a hypocrite!

And if you don't have a problem with the Pledge of Allegiance, you are probably a nationalist.

I consider myself patriotic, but not blindly allegiant.

I happen to know the difference in right and wrong. And know when to draw the line between the two. So the whole reference to an American patriot also being a Nazi because I happen to serve my nation with devotion?

Thanks Sam.

In the context it is used in this age, it is.

I've been to over 40 countries and lived in several others as well. The USA is still the best one. I love my country. I will always put my country and its citizens above anyone else, even if they are limp wristed commie liberals.

I know you pick on the cops in this country..but ever been to others? In Europe lets just pick ANY country..if a cop pulls you over WITHOUT reasonable suspicion (its not needed) and wants to give you a breathalyzer you have 2 choices. 1. Give the breathalyzer 2. Refuse breathalyzer and wait for cops to pin you to the ground and draw blood from you on the side of the road to have it tested..
