I live in Tennessee! I'm on a cross-country road trip though, cutting through Kentucky on the way to St. Louis right now. Nothing but corn and the smell of urine.

Oh well then I take it back . It's ok to travel through. Traveling means you are not staying so I commend you on not staying .

We are going from St. Louis to Dallas, but going west from there is going to be flat, hot, and boring, so I guess I ought to get used to it.

The southern route thru west Texas is desolate and boring. I thought taking 40 all the way was a better ride

Eastern KY is beautiful. However, one of the most poor and illiterate parts of the country. If you break down, be careful. Banjos will be heard playing

I enjoyed my years in Lexington. Agree about Eastern KY - lots of those the road that goes in is the same one that you have to come out on areas and what's at the end you may wish you hadn't seen.

Central ky is beautiful. East ky is beautiful too but is poor and most people don't have a great education. Can't speak much for western ky, don't spend time out there.

Don't know why anyone would say kentucky is a hell hole, the land is wonderful. Can't speak for some of the people though :p

Arkansas is kind of pretty. The flat, hot and boring really sets in south of Texarkana.

Still haven't figured out why one would drive to St. Louis on the way to Dallas from anywhere in TN?

Isn't there an area in TN where the children can barely read if at all and books are donated by charities?

We are taking the scenic route. My friend is from NC and had never been west of the mountains. We did drive through Ferguson just out of curiosity. Now we are on the way to Branson, MO for the night because we found someone to offer us a bed and a shower. She is a Gamecock, so me taking her to Dallas is going to be fun. Loser pays winner bar tab and has to wear opponents gear the next day. She gave me SC-10.

Dallas to Tucson is going to be rough the next day.
