Once had a prominent linebacker tell me that Kentucky and Vandy were the two teams they hated the most. He said that guys on UF/Bama/Auburn/UGA etc were basically their peers. They knew them or of them in high school, at All-America games etc. He said they mutually respected each other. He said Vandy and Kentucky players at the time talked a whole lot of trash but never did anything to back it up.
They're our two oldest active rivals. When Neyland was first hired in 1925 he was told in no uncertain terms to beat Vanderbilt. It's always good and never gets old to beat either one of those teams. To get back to beating Vandy on a regular basis as if it were a given is how it should be when everything is right in the world and one of the signs our ship is righted.
