Watching him run over, under and thru 49er's...I noticed he graduated from Arlington HS. Went to Mich State and ran all over Jim Harbaugh.... how did we miss him at UT?
Anyone have any insights?
If we'd signed him, many on here would be complaining because he was low rated and we beat out Kent State for him. Because recruiting rankings are all that matter to them.

Huh maybe because he wasn’t anything special until he was 22. 17-18 yo walker was a very average RB.

Two of my daughters went to school with him. Very polite young man with a great attitude. He basically played on a bad team and didn’t get the attention he deserved. Diamond in the rough kinda guy. Glad to see him continuing to do great things.
was he at arlington all 4 years? does his family still live there?

Region 7 in 6A was really bad in 2018 (Walker's senior year) and Arlington was a pretty bad team in the worst 6A Region in the state...

Was he special at wake forest ?
In a 3 back system in a slow mesh read option offense his first season (2019), he had 579 yards on 98 touches and 4 TDs across 11 games. His 9th time touching the ball in his first game was a 96 yard TD.

In a pretty much 2 back system - again in a slow mesh read option offense - his second year (2020), he had 579 yards on 119 carries and 13 TDs. That was only across 7 games as he got injured in the Nov 14 game against UNC and didn’t play in the team’s 2 other games.

Good grief seriously? He went to Wake Forrest. Then had one good year at MS and has been an average RB in the NFL. We didn’t miss on anything.

In 2021, Walker rushed for 1,636 yards and 18 TDs averaging 6.2 ypc. He won the Doak Walker Award as the nation's best RB and finished 6th in the Heisman voting. He was a consensus All American.

Tennessee has had exactly zero RBs in its history rush for that many yards in one season. Tennessee has had one RB in its history with that high of an average per carry (Charlie Garner, who did so on far fewer attempts). Tennessee has had exactly one RB in its history rush for more TDs in a season. Tennessee has never had a Doak Walker winner and has never had a RB finish as high as 6th in the Heisman balloting. I don't believe Tennessee has ever had a consensus All American at RB.

I'm going to disagree, based on those facts, that Tennessee "missed on anything" by not having Walker on its roster.

You are making assumptions about Walker. We don’t kiss on him. He originally committed to WF and then went to MSU. Yes he had a good year but thinking he would have been some kind of stud here just because he was in the B10 is just foolish. Can you give me any guarantee whatsoever that he would have been anywhere near what he was at MSU? No you can’t. So therefore we didint actually miss on anything. Also, did we persue him very heavily when he was transferring from WF?

The Big 10 isn’t the WAC. Of course he’d have been good at Tennessee. It’s ridiculous to suggest that the Doak Walker Award winner wouldn’t be good in the SEC. The dude was just the Super Bowl MVP. Which SEC defense do you consider better than the 2025 New England Patriots?

But get it. You’ll argue with a wall. Even when the wall has a better point.
