Kendrick ok with position switch

Anyone who plays O-line for UT has a chance right now. This is the perfect opportunity to stand out.

Apparently not. The staff seems determined to play Thomas at RT this year even though Kendrick, by all accounts, has really stood out there throughout the spring and summer. Now the move to guard and it looks like he will be behind a true freshman there.

That's the most encouraging article I've read on our O'line all year. Glad to hear they're going out and making it their goal to be better than last year, and make this their year!! Excellent attitude by these young men.:hi:

I'm honestly a little disappointed. He seemed to me to be the best Tackle that we had last year IMO. I was hoping he would play decent at one of the tackle spots this year and then in 2016 he would be a possible strength on the team. But in Butch we trust I guess.

I really did not want to read this article. I like most of Volnation feel that the OLine is going to be the team weakness this year again, and quite frankly it is almost getting tiresome hearing about a patchwork of big uglies again.

But truthfully this was one of the best articles on the line I have seen in quite sometime, and it is at least a little bit encouraging.

Guys this is about getting the best five on field. Jones may not quite be ready to start, and Thomas is more suited for tackle than guard. Kendrick can play both.

Hope Kendrick turns out to be a solid OL, wherever he plays. Even if Jones gets the start, a few freshman mistakes and Kendrick could be in there pretty quick.

Good article. I am praying all of the things I keep hearing from our OLineman about thsi year being an improvement/redemption year pans out.

Thomas hasn't shown the reaction time or foot quickness to be a tackle. And he doesn't have the strength to be a guard at this level, at this time. So, therein lies the problem. He really needs a red-shirt year. Hopefully one of the other guys can take RT position and run with it. Unfortunately, it seems like he's the best option ATM. He'll probably be counting on a lot of help from the TE and RB in pass blocking.

This is such strange move from our coaching staff. Kendrick was our best tackle out of the returning starters. Another year of Thomas will make me sick.

You're out of your mind.

Blair can't learn the schemes - this would be an issue at any school - not caused by Mahoney.

Did the staff not seek input on his ability to pick up schemes or how he takes to coaching, from the JUCO staff? Clearly the film showed he could do something that managed to capture the attention of the entire top 25. Are Mahoney's schemes that complicated?
