What could Griffey's numbers have been had he not been plagued with the injury bug? He has/had the sweetest/purest swing I personally have ever seen. I think he definitely is chasing Hank and passes Bonds if he stays healthy, and by all indications...he did it without performance enhancers. My favorite all around player

He probably lost about 100 HRs during his prime from 30-35 to injuries. It's unreal how cursed he was once he got to Cincinnati.

i agree that he probably lost about 100 homers. no doubt that he would have been around the 700 mark in my mind.

It makes me sick to see cheaters have a long career but the most promising young prospect I remember growing up gets bitten by the injury bug over and over again. He could have been the greatest had he not had his career cut up by injuries.

but the thing about that is he will be the first ballot hall of famer where the asterisks will have a harder time. i would be shocked if he was not elected in the first time around. if he is not, than all of the voters need to get smacked in the face.

indeed he was. guys like that, though frustrating at times in cincy, command my upmost respect. i still enjoyed every opportunity i had to watch him play, but years of playing on astroturf took its toll.

Jr. was the man. Flat out. Great player who would glide in the outfield.

Shoulda been a Brave!

He lost about 100-120 hr's...best player I have ever seen and my favorite player of all-time...I don't think he breaks the record if healthy though.

I think he does. As healthy as he was in his prime, he could have played forever and would have broken the record

Absolutely the best all-around ballplayer I've ever seen, and a class act on top of it!
