Kelly's comments on imposing their will on teams....

He was also very informative and gave actual answers. I get tired of the coach speak, and that includes Heupel. I have stopped listening to him answeing press questions. Just not as interesting. Also, our guys usually don't ask good questions but he was getting hard questions and did a good job answering.
I'm sure he has his moments (like the press being late), but he's no more of a jerk than Saban is. THATS your drama queen.

Totally agree. I used to love SEC media days and now I don’t really pay attention because its all the same coach speak

My fondest wish is that we skulldrag LSU and their carpet-bagger coach so badly that he makes an ass out of himself on national TV complaining that we ran the score up, or making excuses about officiating. Throw in a refusal to shake hands afterward for good measure. He’s that kind of clown. I would love for this game to solidify how short his tenure will be in the SEC.

Probably not realistic and will be much closer than that, but I’d love to see us drop half a hundred on this guy, and make him look like the schmuck he is. Everybody has got to have a dream, right?

Kelly has made the comment they have been able to impose their will on teams...
I'm honestly not sure what he could mean by that. They were statistically dominated by Auburn and FSU. I guess he could be talking about MSU. They're a true "system" team. A lot of their starters could not start for any other decent SEC team. They do some really, really simple/specific things within that system that makes them successful. They're always going to have a vulnerability to really talented D's. Their rushing O hasn't really been "imposing" vs FSU and Auburn. They avg'd under 4 ypc vs Auburn. Again, MSU was the exception.

They're 13th in the SEC in sacks allowed... I wouldn't call that dominant.

Defensively they're 4th against the run just behind UT so I wouldn't say they've been more imposing than UT in that regard. They're 3rd in total D so that's pretty good but when you look only at the 3 "big" teams they've played their average allowed increases from 293 ypg to 373.

I guess you have to take their athletes serious. But claims about someone "out physicalling" UT are a little hollow to me right now. That was the narrative before the Pitt game and UT whipped them man for man. It was a narrative in the UF game... and it wasn't the case on either side of the LOS.

UT's problem in my opinion boils down to playing too tentative in their zone. They need to take more risks and attack even if they make mistakes. Too often guys are standing all around receivers when they make a catch. They have to stop worrying so much about making an "assignment error" in those situations and step into that passing lane.

And also downplaying our tempo and how it "limits" what you can do playing tempo... He is challenging us physically and also our philosophy.... Don't see how that's not bulletin board material to players and coaching staff... #faafo
UT is a physical team on the LOS. I actually hope he's questioning that.

Everyone seems to dismiss UT's tempo... until their DL's barely get in their stance before the ball is snapped and the confusion starts setting in. A lot of people think tempo is about fatigue. The greatest benefit is creating chaos and communication issues for the opposing D. It may "limit" you but it still gives you enough to take advantage of a D that doesn't even figure out where to line up before the ball is snapped.

Also, heard his comment about motion. UT in spite of tempo uses motion fairly often. I hope he believes some of the stuff he said.

Agree, he has repeatedly called Tennessee a fantastic football team and has paid Heupel a ton of compliments.

The whole concept of bulletin board material is so stupid to me. The logic dictates that you were not going to give your absolute 100% best effort until someone on the other side made you mad enough to. If we need that to win, we’ve already lost.
The human psyche is a strange thing. Sometimes motivation and logic don’t always go together. Feeling dismissed (rightly or wrongly) can bring out incredible effort from some individuals

Tempo is but an element of our offense. Huepel finds mismatches and puts our boys in a position to win.
As a former long time defensive coordinator in the SEC once told me…football boils down (at its most basic elements) to spacing and MISMATCHES. This is what Josh is best at IMHO. Putting his players in the best position possible to create adequate spacing causes mismatches often. As I’ve often said..”it’s probably easier to create both with superior athletes”! Hopefully…we can create both in abundance come Saturday in Istrouma (Baton Rouge)

I have read on Tiger-droppings, they think there players are in better physical shape than ours. LY that was a true statement. Our D-line rotates 13 guys, we ain't getting tired. I hope his D gets gassed off our fast pace.
Who cares how many guys on D they have, tempo doesn't allow for continuous rotation soo....

Another thing to add we have 3 studs at wr ..no team has three corners that can man up on all our wr

The thing about a successful up tempo offense is that other team's defense's can't keep up. We get a nice 15 yard gain and couple the effect of it by snapping the ball in 15 seconds. Other teams are just trying to line up and get the playcall in. On top of that, they are used to having 30+ seconds to recover so they its a tough adjustment to cut 10-15 seconds off per snap from a stamina perspective. Its hard to impose you will when you are gasping for breath all day. It's like a weightlifter doing cardio. They may be strong, but doesn't mean they can runa 5k.

So sure, LSU may be used to wearing down teams by the 2nd half. But, we sprint from the start and don't relent. Just gotta focus on executing better in the 2nd half. Can't trip over ourselves and we have to continue to be aggressive.
