How would you guys feel about Chaney remaining as offensive coordinator under the new HC?

He's helped build a very successful offense here, but some have issues with his play calling. Do you think he's good enough to keep around, or no?

Been asked before a couple other places, but I'm okay with it. Keep Graham and Pittman and we'd maintain some continuity on offense going into 2013. May be the best way to see immediate results.

I like our current offensive staff, outside of Coiner. Defense needs scrapped.

Well whatever happens with our coaching staff, thank goodness that Cutcliffe is NOT coming back in ANY capacity, as he just signed a long term extensive with the Blue Devils. (big sigh!)

if we hire gruden we will go more pro style under center more running toss sweeps off tackle iso's and i really dont think channey would be a good fit but he has had a hell of a year with the stats but he has called some terrible calls on 3rd and 1

The problem is that it's difficult for a new coach to retain staff and at the same time gain confidence from the AD and current players. You have to show that you as a coach have a plan to revamp the whole system. The only time you should attempt to keep the current staff is if you're trying to hold on to some key Freshmen and Sophomores.

I will leave it up to the new HC. Think the problems have been more in execution & player development than play calling

Whatever the new coach wants. he has some really good pass plays. The running calls got better this year, but not quite where we would like it. Needed an all star RB too

I wanted him gone last year...he has done absolutely nothing...our junior qb still cant audible at the line or read defenses, the play calling is terrible and our offense scored what one td against vandy...yeah lets keep him wtf?

There was a time where I thought his playcalling was dryer than Randy Sanders' lol The NC State game won me over as he mixed up the playcalling very well. I wouldnt mind if he stayed, but wouldnt be crying a tear if he is released.

Only if the new HC wants him. But if the HC doesn't want him at OC and you have to pay him anyway, why not make him QB coach. Hopefully they keep Graham though, I would hate to see him leave the most... he really is all vol at heart

The only problem that I can see is poor clock management due to play calling. UT could have obviously ran the ball and controlled the clock better this season and subsequently left our D off of the field: however, in all fairness to Chaney, this would probably fall under Dooley's responsibility. Also, I think that during some of the games where Bray was struggling, it would have been great to call more screen plays and little out patterns just to build his confidence up.

Chaney trying to run a Big-12, up-tempo offense in the SEC and it DOESN'T WORK...WE need an OC who desires to bring the physical style of FB where running the ball is the priority and not a distraction.

Keep JayGraham and Sam Pittman--maybe Hinshaw...all others got to go....and keep NOBODY from the defensive side...:salute:

Chaney:

1. The guy who hasn't developed Bray
2. The guy who didn't realize we had an elite O-line
3. The guy who didn't help a defense that needed it
4. The guy who even Kiffin wouldn't let call plays
5. The guy whose offense NEVER delivered in the clutch
6. Yeah, let's keep that guy :ermm

He scored points with an offense that didn't need an OC to score points. He'll do fine in a league where they don't play defense.

I've got to bump this. Full disclosure: Chaney is a personal pet peeve.

I'm astonished that a supermajority would be okay with Chaney if the new guy gives him the thumbs up. I thoroughly believe he is sub-standard UT and SEC.

I can understand a toe-the-line with regards to the new HC, but seriously, is Chaney THE MAN in a supermajority eyes?

I will be doing cartwheels when Gruden is announced, but I guarantee you, if he keeps Chaney, it will be my first single-eyebrow-raising moment of the Gruden tenure. Really?
