Kangaroo Black Tells It Like It Is.....Good Comments

By his reaction on the third down stop, I think he knew it was a mistake. The over aggressive defensive playcalling also cost us. No safety help over the top on 4 and 6 was a bad call. They should have known our FR CB would get picked on. Is what it is at this point. Sucks.
Brother, that could’ve been a senior corner back, and it wouldn’t of mattered that ball was placed perfectly over the far side shoulder and out of the reach for anybody to be able to disrupt

This is from ESPN - We were just going to take a shot there, and we needed to score fast," Smart said. "We didn't need to keep milking time. It felt like they were defending the sticks, and we were trying to get a touchdown. Sometimes, you get an advantage when people play the sticks and you're willing to take a shot."

Spoken like a coach that knows how to win big games.

I don’t get the knock on CJH being too conservative. But for an offside, we are set for a 37 yard field goal as time expires. Exactly what we want after GA tied it up

if he weren’t so “ conservative” ( as many call it), and we had a TO, I think he’s far more likely to be appropriately second guessed.

I think most of the conservative comments come from our second quarter play. Punting on 4th and 2 at the 50 and slowing down the offense after blitzkrieg first quarter. The 3 runs after the fumble were conservative too. We could've put it away right there. That kind of play calling doesn't win championships.

For the final play, why wouldn't you run another play after the penalty? Get some yards back. Don't send your kicker out there with him knowing his kick just got 5 yards harder.

I suspect he was concerned that another penalty sends it back 5 more yards.
I thought he would have kicked it on the play we jumped offside.

The right thing to do is stay aggressive 90% of the time and to run one more play on 3rd down regardless of the penalty to try and get some more yards off that kick and use a TO to stop the clock. Maybe throw a quick out and get out of bounds. I bet a pass play would have blown Smarts mind at that point in the game. Lol

This is exactly how I see it.

Plus, we were throwing the ball downfield in the third and fourth quarters.

It comes down to who makes the plays. If they don’t hit on the 4th and 6 TD, GA fans questioning the decision not to try to pick up the first down. They made the play. Pretty good defense but they made the play.

We didn’t make them when it mattered.

We didn’t make one play…the FG.

Everyone can nitpick and b!tch and moan, but Heupel once again had our team in a prime position to beat a conference heavyweight. And before the game, everyone on here woulda said yes if given the option from 42 yards to win it. Our kicker just missed it.

I think coaching was very even in this game. They called some superior plays but so did we. Again, one play….
