Kaiya Wynn out for season

Wow, that really sucks. My condolences, hoping she makes a complete recovery. Since it happened now, she may be ready for the start of next season. Getting sick of all these types of injuries, really depressing.
Six to twelve months depending on severity and course of treatment to correct. Grateful they didnā€™t use the term rupture.

A lot of times lay people use those terms interchangeably so we should not infer too much from these initial reports.

From Dr. Google, a rupture = a complete tear, whereas a "tear" would imply that some portion of the Achilles is still attached.

This is not what Kim needed to be dealing with this year. We need all hands on deck. You have to feel really bad for Kayia. This will make a major change in her life plans. I was looking forward to seeing how much she had improved. LVFL.
As a coach, you have to expect that injuries are going to happen. really unfortunate for Kaiya,. That is kind of an unusual injury for a women's college ball player but the repair and rehab techniques have come a long in the last few years.

Okay. It has only been a few hours since this sad news posted, but I'm already accepting that while this is upsetting, the upside is she'll be a mature leader for next season after we've lost seven others to graduation.

It will also give her another year of education paid by scholarship. Not terrible!

Seems like the LVs always have at least one "old lady" player around. I agree Kaiya will be a great one. Also love that she immediately said hell yeah I'm coming back!

This reminds me of the totally forgotten injured LV Destiny Wells. Do we even know if she's cleared? Fully participating in practice? We've completely overlooked her in speculating about the upcoming season.

From the videos it seems like Wells has been full-go in practice but I haven't actually read anything, and I don't think Kim has really mentioned her in any interviews that I've seen.

If Wells is given free reign to shoot the ball, she can be a great asset in this type of offense that is planned this year. Kellie had her thinking too much to distribute rather than score. She is a very capable 3 point shooter as her stats showed as the primary option at Belmont. She just didn't look to score in the limited action she had last year. Also a very smart experienced player.
