The other thread was pretty big, so I decided to start another thread for those who didn't watch the game about what I saw.

Strengths
- Quick Release
- Excellent pocket presence, knows how to get away from the pass rush
- Throws very well down the middle
- Also throws very well down the sideline
- Not afraid to make a tough throw
- Always has his eyes downfield, no matter what. Made two TD's by just keeping his eyes down the field
- Can take a hit
- Throws good jumpball
- Good touch on throws
- Did well looking off defenders
- Good spiral, catchable ball
Weaknesses:-
- Keeps ball too low, had it down to his hip a couple passes
- Footwork is shoddy at best. Needs to use his feet more to set his body up for a throw
- Uses all arm, very upright when throwing. Doesn't bend his knees enough
- Struggled to read defense
- Tried to force throws too much
- Drops back like a 70's QB: Drops back by looking forward
- Needs to learn to throw ball away

Justin plays in a TTU like offense. Once they got away from that and threw down the field, Justin picked them apart. He is definitely a rhythm QB. Once he got comfortable, he looked like a brand-new QB. He looked bad in the first half, and looked like a 5* QB in the 2nd half.

He'd looked very solid in the redzone. Don't think he missed a pass in there. He didn't have a lot of possessions in the redzone.

Didn't look good in 3rd downs. He really forced things, especially in the first half. He looked like he was rushing things.

When he was rushed, I give him a solid "B". He was not good in the 1st half, but he improved in the 2nd. His footwork is atrocious under pressure.

Obviously they threw all the time, so not really anything you can base it on.

I don't know if this was him or not, but in 3rd-n-long situations, he didn't do a good job making sure he got the throw past the chains. Like I said, don't know if it was because of the play calls, or him. But he also didn't have lots and lots of time.

My conclusion: We won't start his first two years. His mechanics need lots of improvement. He is accurate, and is pretty strong-armed, but he needs a lot on his footwork. He does very well avoiding pressure, and he does a great job keeping the play alive. He does need to bring the ball up more on his drops. I can definitely see him as a starter at UT, but not in the near future. South Pointe is a very good team, and I came away impressed from the 2nd half on. Sorry this was long, but had a lot to say.

good evaluation. I agree on on just about everything you listed.

He had a rough first half but had a phenomenal second.

Kept his composure even though he was constantly getting pressured by the best DE prospect in the country (and a kid on the other end that played pretty well also).

I think some of the blame for his weak first half is on the play calling, they weren't giving him the opportunity to stretch the field and get the ball over the middle... all the coaches wanted to do was dump it to the RBs on the wings and it was easily defended by south pointe... once they stretched it out Worley really showed what kind of QB he can be.

I agree that its going to take some time once he gets to UT to put on some weight, get stronger, and get better fundamentally, but he should def. be in the mix by his RS Soph/Junior year.

I would agree with the evaluation too, also got to remember its his first game of the year, and first ever nationally televised game. that could of played a part too. overall very happy he has picked us.

Three things also:

1) South Pointe is a good team and they have 2 DL with serious D-1 offers. His O-line struggled some.

2) It was a first game, and that first half was damn ugly. But that 3rd quarter was as good as a QB could do.

3) Jadeveon Clowney is going to be a star in the NFL. Yes, I said it, the NFL. He is an absolute monster.

Worley was never gonna come in a be a freshman phenom. It will take a couple of years for him to transition to a pro-style offense. Give him a red-shirt year and he will probably be competing for the starting job. He's a winner and I think that will carry over to his college career to. We don't need a qb who is a heisman candidate to be competitive in the SEC. Just someone who can manage the game and not make mistakes. ala Greg McElroy.

Your evaluations need to center more on situations. How he threw in the red zone, or on 3rd down. When you've got limited room to throw, or when the defense knows you're gonna throw, respectively. In Worley's case, they absolutely knew he was going to throw constantly, due to his lack of running game.

A lot of his problems in the 1st half had to do with his line, and the explosiveness with the opposition's D-line. He was hurried a lot, and his receivers didn't make a lot of plays. As they wore down (and inexplicably didn't blitz as much), he turned it on, and led his team back from 13 down. Huge attribute to have in a young QB.

mechanics, footwork...bleh. In due time. Worley won't start because by the time he gets here, we'll have an established starter, and a few good backups who know the system. But based on one game, in front of a national audience...I'd say he'll be a good fit at Tennessee.

I was very disappointed in the first half. Sure, he didn't have time to throw, but he made lots of bad decisions.
Then, I was pleasantly surprised in the second half. Still looks like he needs lots of work, but he partially redeemed himself in the second half. Some of that redemption had to do with OL blocking. Overall, he had more time, and looked more relaxed in the second half.

His arm strength isn't great, but he played well overall. He isn't an elite prospect, but he is better than SC and Clemson fans will have you believe. All in all, JW showed me something in the second half.

They are just jealous he didn't commit to them. :)

Looked better than average to me. I liked his toughness. He was hit in the mouth on several occasions by a growna** manchild and he just kept popping back up. His ints were both off of his back foot.

I agree - I was very impressed with his toughness. If he can get some proper developmental time in with Chaney, et al. for a few years before being called on to start, we could have a very serviceable to nice quarterback down the road...he certainly showed a thing or two today.

I think for the most part his footwork needs major work. When he remembered to step into his throws correctly his arm looked adequate. A lot of the time though he was flat footed and throwing with all arm. That's when the ball would flutter on him. I think Chaney will beat the correct footwork into his head during a redshirt year.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but correcting his throwing motion to use more body and footwork should improve his perceived arm weakness right?

Most of those weaknesses are coachable, which is nice. Looks like he has the physical tools and instincts to be successful.

Not a lot of arm strength but he reminds me of Danny Wuerffel in all the right ways.

He looked very good in the second half. He needs to work on his mechanics and his footwork and he will be a very good QB. I noticed Tom Luginbill was giving him alot of love towards the end of the 3rd quarter he seems to think that he will be a very good QB in our system. I think he will have a good season and finish a solid 4 star and compete with Bray for the starting job in two years.
