Justin Martin earning praise from Shoop, Warren

This guy coverage wasn't bad he was in position most of the time. Our db coach wasnt worth darn to correct the technique.

You're right. Martin and Emmanuel were in great position a lot of the time and then when the ball is in the air they didn't have a clue. It was unbelievable to watch, I haven't seen very many things like it. Just horrible coaching. i even saw some of it from Sutton the last couple years. Balls that should have been picks or at least pass break ups were completions.

That's not how I recall it last season. Many times he was completely out of position and chasing a WR who had gotten behind him. Ohio game immediately comes to mind. Also had a handful of bad penalties last year because of it. Agree that he was poorly coached.

Justin Martin has the physical talent to be a first round corner. Its always been about mentality for him. Good to hear him turning the corner.

Martin has the physical tools to be an all-conference performer, just hope he can raise his mental game significantly this year.

"Honestly, the guy who's had the most consistent spring is Justin Martin," defensive coordinator Bob Shoop said Thursday. "He's really stepped up his game and done everything he's been asked to do. In the meeting room, on the practice field and as a teammate, he's done really well.

Martin, a senior cornerback, is establishing himself as a leader entering his third season in the program after transferring from Northeast Oklahoma A&M. Although he played during his first two seasons at Tennessee, he struggled to cement his place on the depth chart. With the exit of Cameron Sutton, a likely NFL draft selection, Martin is stepping up to fill the void.

"His commitment and dedication to being a great player, I've seen a change in him," defensive backs coach Charlton Warren said. "Just today, I told him how much I appreciate that and that the team appreciates what he's done this spring. I've told him now he has to take that, run with it and do more."

Told y'all David Cobb would meet the standard set by Patrick Brown as the Tennessee beat writer for the T-FP. Dude's doing a great job !:worship:

Yes indeed that shows you how bad the coaching was for 4 years look at Dobbs in 4 months with a real QB coach has already adjusted his throwing motion and Dobbs now may go early in the second round we had the talent here the last to years and with the lack of coaching it cost us 2 SEC EAST championships now we are young again but at least it looks like we got some coaches that can really coach the talent.

Martin has the raw talent to be the number one corner taken in the draft. he's got the speed, length, ability. What he also had the last couple years was poor coaching and bad technique. i have a feeling Warren has got that straightened out and if he has, Martin will be first team All American.
And will discover the cure for cancer.

Martin looked like he was goofing when he wasn't playing, as in not focused or serious. I wonder if the coaches are leading him on with praise after nothing else worked. Hey, I hope the guy takes his game right to the top. Maybe he really is just happy because he's getting his head and game right.

He'll get his shot this year.
He can goof around as much as he wants as long as Antonio Callaway isn't running by him again...
