I read where he might be in the running to replace Stoudamire. I didn’t know he was a serious candidate for the NC State job last year.
I also thought this was interesting from the Athletic- “If Tennessee coach Rick Barnes retires, Gainey could be his replacement, but if not, it wouldn’t be surprising for other ACC programs to look his way. The Tennessee connection with Alpert (GT AD) won’t hurt the 48-year-old’s case, nor will Gainey’s regional experience. But is he better off waiting to see what Barnes does?

What are your thoughts if Gainey is on a very short list to replace Barnes?

Not sure DW can take a chance on a first time HC. Football, baseball, and LV are not were they need to be right now.
FL has yet to make the CFP, Josh has. Baseball is ranked, that's a stupid azz statement. LV's haven't been where they need to be since Pat stopped coaching so that's literally nothing new. Stop being dumb, dummy.

Also, softball is ranked #1

Not a fan of Gainey being Barnes replacement without cutting teeth as HC somewhere first.
That rarely works out at any place...I mean the only place I can think it has worked is Duke and even then Scheyer had one or two "down" years in terms of the Duke standard.
Plus it worked at Duke because Sheyer was basically Coach K's right hand guy for like a decade or more.

It’s incredible how far the Ga Tech program has fallen and how long it’s been a disaster. I don’t know why anybody would take that job.

I know Hewitt took them to the title game, but it’s looking more and more like Bobby Cremmins, and his recruiting, was the reason for their run of success in the mid-80s/90s.
