Went back and looked over the rankings for the past few years..just found it interesting and figured I'd share. These are the number of top-150 commits based on Rivals.

in '07, we had 7(I think...)*Also didn't know that BJ Coleman was a top 75 recruit.
in '08, we had 2.
in '09, we had 7. (Seeing #1 overall Bryce Brown and #17 Janzen Jackson in the same class is just unreal.)
in '10, we had 8.
in '11, we had 2.
in '12, we had 1.

Funny how many of these top-recruits haven't worked out for whatever reason too.

Funny how the years when we didn't get many were losing seasons

Three coaching changes and Kiffen/Dooley knockout punches. Transfers, arrests, and lack of proper development.

Bryce Brown didn't pan out, Janzen was kicked off the team, DeAnthony Arnett(a top 75 WR) transferred to State, Matt Milton (top 150 WR) transferred to Louisville. And among the 3 released recently, I think one of those was a top 100 DE if I remember correctly.

These are just the ones off the of my head.

Dooley's class lacked player development greatly. Kiffen guys just didn't workout. Out of the two I would say what Dooley did was what ultimately drove us into the ground.

Brown would have worked out if he had.stayed and if his Dad would have let him grow up. Kid played and was 2nd string for 1 season and started in the NFL this yr and played well. Imagine what he could have done his Soph and JR yrs at UT.

Kiffin definitely employed a high risk-high reward recruiting strategy. We ultimately suffered all of the consequences of those risks and few of the rewards. For all of Dooley's shortcomings, attrition was most severe during the Fulmer-Kiffin transition and as a result of the Kiffin washouts. Remember that Dooley started with something like 15-18 scholarships below the NCAA limit. His first order of business, even more than player development, was to simply fill in the "crater" left behind by his predecessors.

Flip-side, what happens if we lose one we should win ? How fast will the "pack" turn on the lead Wolf ???

I would be very suprised if Butch doesn't get at least three years. The team would have to show the same shortcomings it did under Dooley.
