Just Settle Down, Please.

After the season, Danny White and CJH must sit down and chart the program’s future. Then, they evaluate the entire staff—including CJH—and decide who stays and who goes. It’s that simple.

I’m not calling to fire CJH, but as the program’s leader, he has to own where he and his staff are falling short.

We’re teetering on the edge. This nine-game SEC war will separate the true heavyweights from the pretenders. Frankly, I refuse to land in that pretender bracket with Mississippi State, Arkansas, or Kentucky.

Settle down, folks. We lost tonight. But I said to people that if there would be a team along with Georgia and Alabama that gave us fits this season, it'd be Oklahoma. The Sooners are not a bad team. They're a good team and a reason they are 6-2. It is so asinine that I am seeing comments of some of the fans on here saying we're going to be 7-5 or we need to get rid of Josh Heupel.

Yeah, Heupel got outcoached tonight, Joey picked tonight to have his worst game of the season, and Max Gilbert still can't make a Field Goal in a clutch situation. But before the season, the experts thought we'd be 6-6 or 7-5. Hell, there were some that thought we'd probably go 5-7. We lost many players in the offseason, we didn't know what we'd get out of Joey Aguilar before the season, and several players on defense have been out since before the season. I am just saying it could be worse.

We are great at offense. Most of our offense did a great job, but Aguilar got too greedy and aggressive on some key throws and that hurt us. Especially how great their defense is. Defensively, we should be better next year with some guys coming back and if we recruit more blue chippers and get quality players from the portal.

But we also NEED to fire Tim Banks and Willie Martinez. Even with the players we have out, we should be better than what we are defensively. And our secondary is still mediocre at best thanks to Martinez. And we need to get a better kicker in the offseason and send Gilbert on his way.

Sorry, But you are two days early. You cannot come here and speak any sort of logic or reason after a loss less than 24 hours ago. It takes until Wednesday for the snowflakes to stop melting and for the majority of them to stop wanting to fire somebody every time we lose. But then again you're firing people too, so I guess carry on.

Just the ones that really need to be fired. Banks and Martinez need to go.

I for one agree CJH needs to shake up his coaching staff. He needs to upgrade . He needs a solid OC. Someone who can run the offense so he can actually be the head coach. There has to be a change at DC. CWM has got to go. Im not too upset that we lost, it’s how we lost. We were picked to go 8-4 before the season started considering everyone who left for the NFL. This is more of CJH stepping up and making some changes. This is his longest tenure as a HC. If he wants to stay he has to get better and that means upgrading his staff.

I do hate losing games we clearly should’ve won. This one and Georgia obviously.. I hate it.

But when I do allow that frustration to chill we are still a better team than I expected coming into the season.

We have one of the top offenses in America- after losing 4 starting o lineman, 3 starting receivers, all American running back, and starting qb…
We also lost a ton on the defensive line including 2 first rounders - lost our starting safety in the spring and both starting corners have been out all season..

all things considered - I’m still mad..we should’ve won.. we were better than them.. we find a few ways to kill ourselves constantly and heup HAS so get better at game/clock management and situational play calling.. those I think can be fixed… but I think we are a ton better than most of us thought coming in and that’s to Heups credit.
we have the youngest team in the sec and some real dawgs coming to help the defense and keep the offense humming.. I’m excited for the future (except maybe next year.. who is gonna throw the ball?)

We should definitely give him some grace. He deserves that. But he has to make changes this off season. Regressing in year 5 is a bad look. Can’t consistently beat rivals, defense looks bad, QB decision making has been hell at times, special teams bad.
This. He deserves two more years. However, Jan and Feb 2026 may be the most important two months of CJH’s tenure. We all know this staff is not championship caliber (SEC or otherwise). If CJH does not replace the underperforming coaches on this staff he will be fired with them at the end of of the 27 season. No changes this off season will result in a similar or worse result in 26. And that will be the beginning of the end for CJH.

Just stop. Indiana hired Curt Cignetti and he is amazing. If DW is so wonderful he should be able to find someone great.
You stop. Its a friggin message board. You and other negative little girls like to throw that out at every turn when the "sunshine pumpers" jump on you. It's a discussion board. Discuss who you want to replace Heupel with.

Or just keep bishing like a little a little bish.

Agree, also maybe look at Special Teams--Kickers coach and S&C due to injuries.
Good point. Especially on the Strength and Conditioning. He's NOT getting it done. This is as bad as in 2016 where we'd have several players get injured every game. I remember someone posting a side-by-side picture online in 2016. It showed the team from 1996. twenty years earlier. These guys were ripped. They were very muscular. Then in 2016, they were not as ripped or muscular as twenty years prior. That's telling me something right there. As far as special teams, I put that more on Gilbert just not being a really good and/or reliable kicker.

Was asked what he told Max and said that he has to drain em. Everything matters and the missed kick was part of the issues tonight
You can't have 3 turnovers in the first half and expect to win. OK secondary is pretty good. Joey can't just throw it up there and expect the receivers to run under it every time. I saw that coming in some of our other games. Our receivers have done a good job at locating the ball and going to it.

Agree with you about Josh. Anybody that puts fire and Heupel in the same sentence is a moron. But just so we’re clear, you’re thinking then that this staff is perfectly fine and doesn’t need scrutiny?

Number 1 offense in the SEC. Averaged 42ppg before our 56pts last week and 30 something this week so likely still about 42 points per game after already playing bama, uga, and OK with the best defense in the SEC.

Women do this when they're mad.
Throw facts logic and reason out and only spew emotions.
Why do so many UT fans pitch fits like women and lose all logic, reason and facts every time we lose a game??

Why??
I'm pretty sure we didn't have 3 turnovers in the first half against those other teams either.

this team has massive problems. lack of depth to absorb injuries lack of discipline to catch balls and most of all to make a damn tackle. there are no excuses for any of this in year 5 of a program rebuild. these are problems for year 1 or 2.

the scheduling gods were EXTREMELY kind to us next year but I have great massive fears about the QB position and some of the discipline issues I'm seeing. once you get past next year it's going to be brutally tough to ever lose less than 3 games again.

I keep pointing at the iceberg but people are still to damn arrogant to see it as a problem. they will sing a different tune when the ship is sinking and there is no room in the lifeboats for them.

I remember reading a comment on here, I believe in 2023 when things weren’t going as well as 2022. The poster commented that Josh Heupel’s teams usually look good for a couple of years then the true culture of the team takes over. I think we can see that his teams are undisciplined and have no killer instinct. It is clear that this team has the talent to play GA, AL, OK and win, but can’t get out of their own way. It starts with the coach. He doesn’t have an understanding of the intricacies of the game. He has no killer instinct. He’s playing checkers when other coaches are playing chess. We saw live on TV last night that he doesn’t understand the clock rules. He didn’t know that the clock doesn’t stop when the ball carrier runs out of bounds with more than 2 minutes left, although that has been the rule for 2 or 3 seasons now. He’s not willing to hurt a players feelings when they screw up. He’s not willing to fire coordinators or assistant’s to upgrade at those positions. The rest of this season could be ugly and next season might be worse.
What puzzles me is that Heupel has shelved most of the offense he was known for. We don't have the wide splits nor do we play at that hyper speed all that much. Might be that he recognizes that DCs have figured it out so Heupel adjusted as well? Guess he's got to adapt, but while this new version is still effective, it's not nearly as entertaining. Just blows my mind when I see teams like OU putting 9 in the box and we're in some version of a jumbo package all packed in nice and tight for the defense. Twilight zone. Miss the old days and the old Heupel.

The days of building depth ended when players were given money and unlimited free agency. Folks clamored for players to get theirs. Well now they do and what we're seeing is the price we pay for opening Pandora's box.

****. Have you seen next years schedule? We may not get bowl eligble. DW better have his rolodex out before the program tanks and is ONCE AGAIN an unattractive destination. Dont be surprised if the recruting class doesnt fall apart when we end up 7-5.
Uh, Heupel is Whites hire. As long as he's the AD, Heupel is about as safe as a coach can be. I'd also be stunned if White dictates to Heupel about his staff. My guess is that we pour more money into the portal than in years past.

We're just not a good team, too many of the same mistakes every week, coaching isn't good and that translates to the play on the field, bad part is next season is alot harder schedule and we'll be breaking in a new QB again so not much hope for next season unless we can pull some good players out of the portal
