Settle down, folks. We lost tonight. But I said to people that if there would be a team along with Georgia and Alabama that gave us fits this season, it'd be Oklahoma. The Sooners are not a bad team. They're a good team and a reason they are 6-2. It is so asinine that I am seeing comments of some of the fans on here saying we're going to be 7-5 or we need to get rid of Josh Heupel.

Yeah, Heupel got outcoached tonight, Joey picked tonight to have his worst game of the season, and Max Gilbert still can't make a Field Goal in a clutch situation. But before the season, the experts thought we'd be 6-6 or 7-5. Hell, there were some that thought we'd probably go 5-7. We lost many players in the offseason, we didn't know what we'd get out of Joey Aguilar before the season, and several players on defense have been out since before the season. I am just saying it could be worse.

We are great at offense. Most of our offense did a great job, but Aguilar got too greedy and aggressive on some key throws and that hurt us. Especially how great their defense is. Defensively, we should be better next year with some guys coming back and if we recruit more blue chippers and get quality players from the portal.

But we also NEED to fire Tim Banks and Willie Martinez. Even with the players we have out, we should be better than what we are defensively. And our secondary is still mediocre at best thanks to Martinez. And we need to get a better kicker in the offseason and send Gilbert on his way.

We will see if you feel the same when we get drilled by Florida and then another home loss against candy ! “You ain’t seen bad but it’s coming”

It’s coaches first ever bad home loss technically. Can’t make it a habit but I think he gets a pass that it took 5 years to have a bad loss at home lol. It sucks because OU really did nothing special to win the game, their most impressive plays were FG kicks lol

You know that's a loss.
Well I guess it was fun for slot of folks to live the fantasy that Tennessee had a chance for a national championship but just like winning the lottery most logical people knew all along that it wasn’t going to happen! Just glad I didn’t spend 1000 bucks to go to the game tonight just to get embarrassed at home! All I’m really going to lose is maybe a little sleep tonight

O-line gets whipped. Try passing with people in your face. It was a jail break most of the time. Letting a Sooner go around you and don't even try to block him until he is three yards past you is uncomprehensible to me. This was a big part of the final score because of the hit causing the fumble and touchdown for OU. Of course, the run to the end zone was aided by a tight end that looked like a junior high player that has never tackled anybody but we keep trotting him out there. Had a pass to him that he juggled until he took a hit and, of course, he drops it. The kicker. Why trot him out there when you know he is as unreliable as they come when you need the field goal? Just trot him out there hoping for a different result. You can't tell me no one else on the team will do worse. Has anyone seen a coach chew these clowns out for these mistakes?? Never seen it from the television side. Ever seen Nick Saban when one of his players screwed up with a basic, fundamental play?? Uh huh. He was in their face and a lot of times it was the next man in while the slacker got to sit a while. We don't have that.....just don't have the desire to let someone that may be hungrier give it a try. What a comedy of knuckleheads we have on the sidelines and on the field.

We could lose to New Mexico State and I still wouldn’t think we were losing at home to Vandy
Have you watched vandy this year? I mean I hate vandy and used to work next door to the university when I lived in Nashville but that team plays inspired football! And their coach at least has guts ! Heupel plays sissy ball! I hope your wrong but I tell you the way this team played tonight vandy will best Tennessee!!

How many times did the Bills lose SBs because of missed kicks?? Florida State?? Kicks matter. Heupel is so fk’n predictable with his offense.

If Max makes the kick tonight I think things turn out different. Honestly I'd wouldn't be surprised if they try someone else after the bye. Even more so with Josh's comments tonight
Max seems like an awesome dude. I’m really rooting for him but he’s making things tougher. I think the reason we went for the onside kick was because they don’t have faith in him.

You can’t blame it on the kicker alone but that is multiple times this season he has put us in a rough spot. It sucks tbh.

Number 1 offense in the SEC. Averaged 42ppg before our 56pts last week and 30 something this week so likely still about 42 points per game after already playing bama, uga, and OK with the best defense in the SEC.

Women do this when they're mad.
Throw facts logic and reason out and only spew emotions.
Why do so many UT fans pitch fits like women and lose all logic, reason and facts every time we lose a game??

Why??

OP, I really appreciate the rah rah and excuses, but you've only described reality, it's what has happened. IMO you're wishing to explain it away or excuse it - fine. Reality is different... we're done in terms of the playoffs. Maybe that's because we were just not that good enough this year on either side of the ball. Still it's over.... DONE. Only questions now remain, why? Simple as that, for right or wrong, why? Which means we're now gonna get a ton of speculation. Some realistic, some not so much.

Hope he is gone. His choking has killed us this year including flat out losing us the biggest game of the year. He is scared to death and you can plainly see it on his face. The TV guys know it and make it worse while zooming in on his face after the choke of the decade vs UGA.

I can understand the frustration, but Heupel is a very good coach. Look where the Vols were before he got there for so many seasons and then look where you’ve been from his second season and on. So far he is leading you to the playoff every other season and aside from his first season, you guys would have been close the other seasons.

I’m just saying, I wouldn’t be quick to run off a coach that will compete for a playoff spot most seasons and make if half the time. Winning at that rate in the SEC is ridiculously hard. It’s very likely that with Heupel there will come a season where everything goes right and y’all get the breaks you need to play for or win a NC.

I’m not saying you shouldn’t keep on the lookout for something better, but I’d be reluctant to run off a good thing. I mean who would be better? If I were a Vol fan I wouldn’t want to lose Josh.

If he gets outcoached he should be unemployed. Especially against this OU team.

We should definitely give him some grace. He deserves that. But he has to make changes this off season. Regressing in year 5 is a bad look. Can’t consistently beat rivals, defense looks bad, QB decision making has been hell at times, special teams bad.
