I know there are not many like Al Wilson, especially in today's game. That said, wish we had a player that would get in his teammates tail for not giving their All! We had very few giving their All Saturday night! Go watch the game again and you will see what I'm talking about! Before you try to dog me for saying this, this is my opinion.

Just a quarter of a century ago (and I’m biased because that’s my age group), but college age kids were far more mature and adult then. It was almost like we realized that childhood was over.
Everyone’s too worried about feelings and perception these days. The times of the Al Wilsons of the world have passed. That’d be considered intolerant bullying these days.

He played with the fire it takes. These kids today are subdued compared to the way he played. Man played angry. I don't see much anger with this bunch. They seem more worried about flashy helmets & uniforms and looking pretty out there while getting their azzes handed to them. I will say they do talk some trash while also getting their azzes handed to them.

The times of Al Wilson didn't have social media and it was beautiful

Oh man YES! I made it through college before any of that started. I’ll also add that football was better before CTE stuff. The most of that is crap. I only played through high school, but we learned to hit and channel any anger and emotion through the field. I know several high school coaches now that say they hardly contact at all at practice. If nothing else, it’s destroyed anyone’s ability to actually tackle someone.

Unfortunately in todays world of unicorns and rainbows, I’d be willing to bet he would have been dismissed from team and expelled from school for hurting feelings

Speaking of such things, Al Wilson would have told Hadden and a few others to stfu and play football.
