I just listened to the A to Z podcast with Austin Stanley and Zach Bingham. They are ok, not great. They can get heated sometimes but anyway. They were discussing TN. First they were talking about the cash in the McDs bag is bunk. But they also talked a lot about coaches and AD. So here is what was said and I wanted to get your guys thoughts.

They have a top 3 list of coaches. Stanley wants Freeze but knows it won’t happen. So the top 3 are Malzahan, Herman and Chadwell. They both said the most realistic is probably Chadwell. Although their predictions of who the coach would be bled into the AD.

So they kind of said if Ingram is hired, then Steele is likely the HC for 2021 and then a big hire would be made after that. If Gilbert is hired, then he would want to hire his own guy. So it sure sounds like we are screwed either way. So thoughts?

Freeze is no beuno.
Herman would be great.
Not sold on Chadwell.
How do they know what the strategies of either AD would be? They inside their heads?

Malzan isn't coming here with Steele.. shows how little these guys know, so their commentary isn't even worth discussion.

No coach is coming here until they know what the penalties are going to be.

Chadwell > everybody realistic not named kiffin

FTR, Stanley said Chadwell would take the job in a heartbeat. But he also said that Chadwell interviewed for another job but wanted to bring his ENTIRE staff and that was a no go.

Tom Herman had rumblings at Texas from the beginning about him not having great relationships (sounds like Pruitt). I have no idea if they we're true. I actually think he got a raw deal at Texas this year and we could do so much worse, than this hire.

There are no sure fire hires. I'm not sold on Freeze because of what he did at Liberty and Chadwell makes me think of Dooley and Butch. So . . .I don't know. I want a younger guy (40s or early 50s)that has coached a big time program or in the NFL as a head coach. I want some success, but NFL records don't mean much to me as far as winning percentage. In that league, 7-9 coaches can lead their division, so its relative.

Kiffin would be great, just embarrassed to say it and he wouldn't do it.
Jeff Fisher would be solid for a 6-8 year hire. I know he is not a big favorite here, but he wants the job. He coached in the NFL and nearly won a super bowl.
Luke Fickle would be a solid hire but I worry about his ties in the south. He is a solid program manager and has shown real grit at Cincinnati, he almost beat UGA this year . . . except for his poor clock management.

Dabo took over for one of them Bowdens in the season after resignation. He fired the offensive coordinator, emphasized more Clemson Branding; changed the culture with some new team practice/game rituals. Maybe Steele can cut the cancer out and quickly put a helluva staff together. Don’t want to lose Jay or Tee

Malzahn might come but Steele would have to go.

1)He was about 25 years younger than Steele is now.... not that that necessarily matters.
2) No sanctions
3) They had just landed a loaded recruiting class the year before and lucked into a QB that Kiffin stupidly cut loose
4)Ironically enough..... the OC he fired is now a hot coaching commodity and might replace him if he left for Bama.

We are not going to get anyone flashy or who has a hint of baggage in his background. Malzahn would be about the best we could hope for.

At this point what’s it going to matter? We are losing all of our talent in both sides of the ball.
