It's very difficult to tell at this point because he never gets very many consecutive carries because Hardesty is so much more polished at this point. Hardesty is just a beast plain and simple and I'm hoping Brown will soon become just as good or better.

I am very very interested to see just how good him and Oku and even Williams are next year. I do think he will surprise even us once he gets the majority of the carries. I am dissapointed lately at how he has become a non factor in the passing game. We should get the ball to him more often in the flats like early season. Seems to be one of our more sure handed guys who might actually bust some huge plays that start off small.

One thing I have noticed about Brown's running. He seems to have trouble knowing when to go up the middle or to the edges. He first tried to out athlete everyone on the edges and now has been more focused on the middle which is good. However, I saw at least two carries from him in the UGA game in which he drove it up the middle when he could have made huge plays to the left side if he had adjusted right. Those were designed plays I know, but I have been dissapointed with his vision so far. I'm hoping it's because he has such limited experience at this level.

We'll find out when he replaces Hardesty next season.

He's going to have some HUGE shoes to fill next season. Hardesty is playing like the best back in the nation this season.

I'm hoping that that CLK is purposely putting games plans together with different packages. That way by the end of the year our opponents have a lot more to plan for. I agree that he seems like he could be dangerous in the passing game. I remember two one handed catches out in the flat last month that he made look ridiculously easy.

He's a freshman in the SEC. He'll improve. If I'm not mistaken he's also dealt in the past with a lingering hip injury from highschool.

He needs to work on one cut and go, everything else looks solid so far.

Agreed, I'm impressed with him thus far and I believe he will do a fine job as Hardestys replacement. Our Vols appear to have a very bright future... :dance2:

His yards per carry are similar to Hardesty's now, just not getting as many carrys. He will be a monster once he takes the lead role. A back needs 15-20 carries to get in stride, but its good to see Monterio have such a good season! He is a quailty kid and has been an absolute beast this year!!!! GO VOLS!

One thing about next year is; how well will the run blocking be for him? Seeing how some of the younger OL are performing this year gives me a little hope that it won't be the huge drop-off, as I once thought, but it will still be a work in progress.

There have been flashes here and there so far that leads me to believe he'll be a beast but....he's still a freshman. The Adrian Peterson's of the world only come around once or twice a decade.

Did not mean the injury from a negative sense. He is doing a great performance but w/o the injury we would see his true cutting ability.

Brown is a smart, hardworking kid with a ton of talent. A year in the weight room will help him tremendously.

I still like Poole. To me, he's the most like Hardesty of the bunch.

Oku with some work could be at least a poor man's Harvin.

Honestly, I think Williams would have faded like a number of guys did after being talked about alot during the spring.

I agree he looks injured. If he is a 100%, he was over-rated!

Dude, he's played 6 games total in college football. Over-rated?? Even if he doesn't have an injury, give the guy some time. My word. Over-rated!?!?!

Brown has not wowed me, and I frankly wonder if he's deserved to get carries before Poole--who has a higher yards per carry average. He mucked up that crucial first drive we had against florida--missing sizable holes on both first and second down. He's a fairly big guy--of a type that Fulmer liked--and I'm sure he'll be a solid back. I can forsee him being pretty good but not exceptional, like Houston and Foster. But I also wouldn't be shocked if he turned out somewhat like Riggs--highly recruited but not, in the end, a big-time player. We'll know a lot more next year...

I think he has done quite well. His hands are especially impressive. I would like to see more of those wheel routes.

He is playing just fine as a freshman and will only get better next year. I would like to see Poole get some more touches. The few times that he's been in games this year he has run with a chip on his shoulder.
