I only heard part of the interview, but Dan asked Peyton if he would consider coaching at UT 15 years from now. Peyton said he doubted that. He said he enjoyed teaching kids at the middle school/high school level but thought the recruiting would be tough. The way I read between the lines was he enjoyed coaching at a level where it was "pure coaching."

I don't know that he would have that tough a time recruiting honestly. He is Peyton Manning afterall and I assume any kid would want to spend time learning from him.

+1. All he would have to do is say Hi, im Peyton Manning. Coach at UT. He wouldnt have to recruit they would come to him.

i wouldn't want him to be a head coach. i couldn't bear to see him go through some rough seasons and i couldn't bear to see some of fickle fans turn against him.

I would love to see him be our QB coach, even O-coordinator. as much film as he studies film, he would be great at finding weakness in defenses

If that didn't work he could hire Rod Wilks as his assistant. They would come out of desire or fear. Either way they will sign.

I have not listened to P. Manning ruminate enough to have an opinion as to whether I would enjoy him as an announcer. Does he have the charisma to pull it off? Just being smart and having been a great QB is not enough. The analyst's chair may not be his next career move. That said, I cannot see him as hfc at any college team.

I thought he would be the governor of Tennessee or maybe he and Eli could host a comedy hour.

Well, that will put an end to this 'neck ridiculousness for, oh, about 20 minutes.

John Gruden will be the coach before Peyton, he is looking at property in Sevier County after all.

Ive heard Gruden's name thrown up every time there has been talk of a head coaching change. Everytime he has denied even having interest :dunno:

He will never leave Tampa

I expect Gruden to be in Knoxville just as soon as he gets done in Tampa. Mike Leach and Dennis Franchonie as coordinators! Look out Coach Tebow! The Vols are back!!

I hope he never become head coach at UT...that means that either: a) Dooley didn't succeed or b) Dooley bolted. The man's only 42, so I hope he's here for a looong time.

I love Peyton Manning, but I don't see him as our head coach. I think he would do a wonderful job, but he'll end up at ESPN or something... his Mastercard commercials are hilarious! He has the charisma to be on tv.

I agree. He would be a great OC, he would be in every DC's head.

Charisma? maybe, maybe not. His SNL skits would suggest he could pull it off. But the fact that he could call all the defensive plays well before they start could be pretty darn entertaining.

I don't understand either considering how good of a NFL job he's got down there in Tampa. I mean he has the best Defensive coordinator of all time! He would be crazy to leave!
