Just finished watching FSU/Miami

I was too busy to watch this last night so I saved it to my hard drive and just finshed it. Great game.

These teams really struggled at the QB position.

FSU won a close one with a QB that couldn't hit a Wal-Mart and receivers that couldn't catch measles.

All we need to do is win.

If we win out we're going to go places in January.

I fully expect to see a totally different squad take the field in the Swamp than we saw in the opener.

I'm still sticking to my original pick.

Vols win big. The talent comes to the forefront.

In fairness, it was the kicking game that buried Miami.

How about that. Miami loses to FSU because of the kicking game. Is there nothing sacred. :p

Devin Hester looked like he's been taking punt return tips from Pacman Jones. I love watching a game that I am glad to see either team lose!

The difference is, both QB's struggled against great defenses.

We struggled against UAB . . . hardly a great D.

I have said it on several occasions, and I'll say it again:

We HAVE to throw it downfield to beat Florida and LSU.

The defenses in the ACC are gonna be pretty tough this year. NC State, Virginia Tech, Miami, FSU, Boston College all have good D's.

FSU has one of the best defenses in the country and Kyle Wright still did a decent job for his first start...Against some of the other teams in the ACC he will go off...As for FSU's QB he didn't look like he could hit the side of a barn from the inside...He looked lost from the time the game started until it ended. I am suprised they didn't put Xavier Lee out there earlier.

Both teams looked inept on offense... I think both of those teams lose 2-3 games... and miami is already at one loss.

FSU has got to adress the QB problem quick, they were very fortunate last night although they deserve credit for very good D and special teams play.

FSU got by a great Miami D without completing anything spectacular.

The longest pass they completed was for 23 yards.

If we can run the ball and move it with screen and crossing patterns we will win the game.

Our receivers have to catch the catchable balls though.

Another performance of stone hands and we'll lose the game.

And, Clausen can take the ball down the field. Maybe not quite as long as Ainge, but Ainge is throwing to the wrong jersies.

I respect your opinion, but Miami had no offense. Even though Florida hasn't played anybody yet, they do have more of an offensive threat than Miami. I feel Florida will bring all their DB's up close and try to take away the short passing game of Clausen. I figure they will run a lot of bump and run coverage. What are your thoughts?

I was in the student section for the game (my wife is a student) and it was a rough one to watch...a couple observations however :)

Doak Campbell is small...I mean take the upper deck of of Neyland and you have FSU's stadium...just one big bowl. Monday set the record and it was less than 88K.

Doak Campbell is beautiful from the outside...it's like a brick fort on the outside, I hate to say it but it look a lot better than the i-beams at UT.

Better cheering. - Now I don't mean better fans by any means but it was pretty cool to see the whole crowd do the same cheer at the same time...pretty awesome to see the tomahawk chop all around the stadium.

On the whole I'd say a Tennessee game is a lot better but there are some areas to improve.

As for the game I was feeling pretty good about UT's quaterbacks :) Even the miami kid kept getting killed (9 SACKS!) I'll take rick or eric any day of the week. Also I'd take UAB against either of those teams last week...probably not another week in the season but heck, they looked bad on monday.
