Here's something I have been thinking about all week. Lamaison isn't ready to take over the QB duties right now. Why can't the coaches put in about 6 to 8 plays that he CAN run......passing plays that is, and let him practice only on those plays till he executes them well enough for a game? That way, we do have a passing threat, and who cares if everyone knows we're going to pass. On 3rd down, most defenses think you're passing anyway! Can any one give me a rational answer on this? That is other than CLK saying he isn't going to rotate his QB's.

The rational answer would be that despite Crompton sucking, the staff is still trying to win games. Rotating quarterbacks isn't going to work unless the quarterback coming in is fast and running some sort of option play. You can't expect a quarterback to pinch hit at quarterback. It's just not going to work. Not to mention, it would destroy whatever confidence Crompton has left. I highly doubt Lamaison will ever start so why do you want him in the game? Bray or Stephens will start next year. Hopefully Bray.

Yes.

Lamaison cannot make the throws. Period. End of story.

Lamaison is our "in case" guy -- that is, Lamaison will only see the field in case **** happens. He's third on the depth chart this year, and will be third on the depth chart next year.

Good enough?

Not for me! Lamaison had good stats in JC. He CAN throw the ball. I'm not suggesting he starts, just plays on occasion to keep the defenses honest.

I think it is a good Question. On the one hand Tebow was used that way his first year, but as a runner not a passer. A Q/B has to get on the same page with his recievers. I don't believe it could work under these circumstances. You can't bring him in just to pass. jmho:ermm:

1) That means absolutely nothing at this level.

2) If you think the coaching staff is going to throw a QB in the game just to keep a defense honest, then the overall football knowledge of our fan base has hit an all-time low.

Tebow is a freak of nature.

If he was worth a crap, he wouldn't be the third string quarterback on a team without a quarterback. End of story.

I don't know what it's going to take to make people realize what we have here. Lamaison will see the field if, and only if, the two guys in front of him get injured.

I suppose he could play if he turns into a world-beater by this time next year.

It would be nice, but I agree, it would throw off any confidence that crompton may have, which I doubt he has any.

But heres my question, alot of people keep talking about Lamaison never seeing the field, and his stats are because he was a Juco.

But then I keep seeing people wanting Newton, but he is a Juco also. I say Lamaison has just as good of a shot as Stephens. The thing hurting Lamaison is learning the system.

Guess I'm grabbing at straws Gannon to find some sort of answers to the problems this year.

Don't look at it that way.

We have Crompton, Stephens and Lamaison. None of these guys are gonna take us to the "promised land."

Our solution will come as we build depth and recruit the best players. I still curse The Fired Coach for the lack of depth and overall skill he left us with. I never thought I'd see the day UT does not have a viable threat under center.

We're glad to have Lamaison, but he's not the guy. That's just the reality right now.

Who's to say he couldn't get it done in the future? I doubt it very seriously.

If practice is any indication, then he's WAY down the chart.

No, it's because in practice he makes Jon Crompton look like Peyton Manning.

FWIW, I don't want Cam Newton. I say we run with Bray in this class and find that 5* #1 guy in '11.

I bet Lamaison's JC league was more competition than Crompton's High School.

Gunner

I bet you're right!

Sadly, Crompton was the second-ranked prospect in the United States coming out of high school right behind Mark Sanchez.

Sanchez is playing in the NFL, and Crompton is receiving death threats.

I just goes to show that you can never fully gauge potential until it's on the field.
