In all honesty as a Bama fan I would love for Fulmer to be there for 20 more years.

My question though is when will UT quit buying into the whole scape goat thing. First it was Randy Sanders in 05. I really disagreed with that b/c it looked like the same ole plays that have always been called under Fulmer.
Now I get the feeling that after this year Clawson will be the scape goat and I still have not seen the plays change.

Maybe it is just me and I am not trying to flame or anything b/c I truely love the rivalry we share. (Except where you guys owned us there for awhile)

I dont know that they can tag Clawson as the scapegoat for this albatross. He is in his first year of installing a supposedly dynamic offense, but he hasnt been here long enough to recruit the field general & surrounding cast he needs to execute it properly.

Wasnt Fulmer a offensive lineman and a lineman coach? Thats where the problem is the big dudes arent doing a good job. I thought this might happen, Cutcliffe and his style made UT's O-line look awesome, but now Clawson's style requires recievers running different, longer routes and the line simply cant hold their blocks, nor can they pick up on the zone blocking schemes for the running game, do I blame the players? No. Do I blame fat boy? In a word, yes.

UT will quit buying into the scapegoat thing, when Bama quits buying players. OH WAIT....that will never happen.

UT will quit buying into the scapegoat thing, when Bama quits blaming Fulmer, the NCAA, the FBI, Congress and everyone else when they get caught cheating. OH WAIT....that will never happen.

UT will quit buying into the scapegoat thing, when Bama's coach is a man of integrity. OH WAIT....

Cut knew this. Thats why the short passing game was as effective as it was last year. Its sad that our O-line has become a liability rather than a strength.

That would make sense.. if Bama actually had even a remotely good record against Fulmer. Fulmer has made Bama his B#(&* the last 15 years

Good points, but I have to ask if you are a lawyer that is 20 years away from retirement?

Give the guy a break. He's coming on here and sharing his opinion not bashing anyone. Sounds like your just upset because you know if we don't make a coaching change Saban will be owning UT for years to come.

Give me a break. I was just sharing my opinion on the dirtiest program in NCAA history, the University of Alabama.

Seems like Cutt was covering up for alot of our weaknesses. Everyone complained about Crompton not getting enough snaps last year. Well it's pretty evident now why he didn't play Crompton. Our line was considered so good because Cutt's offense was designed to get the ball out quick and Ainge was very good at finding the open recievers. I always thought Cutt went away from the run to quick but maybe it was because our line wasn't very good.

I apologize. I just hate when an opposing fan posts legit questions and gets bashed for it. I don't care whether you are a Bama or Gator fan if you've got something legit to say bring it. I like to hear how educated outsiders view our program.

The offensive line isn't as bad as some of you think. There are holes being opened for our running game. Due to the fact our QB play has been "shaky" at best, the opposing defenses are putting 8 men in the box. NO offensive line can sustain any kind of success against those odds.

Our offensive line play has been adequate. With a competent QB, we would have been 4-1 at worst right now.

QB play means everything in the offense

To the responses above: thanks for turning the thread into a bashing of the soon-to-be #1 team in the land (as much as that pains me to type). Why not just avoid posting if you don't have anything of significance to add?

To the original poster: I think that enough of the Volunteer Nation has finally accepted the need for change and realized that the one consistent factor in our mediocrity is Fulmer. This will likely be the end of an era for us, barring some miraculous turnaround and an improbable win over UGA or Bama. Many of us are actually quite eager to see what Clawson could do with an adept QB and the liberty to run his system.

Oh, and Cutcliffe is dearly missed, from a QB-development standpoint.

Come on. You mean to tell me that Tennessee NEVER paid players? Get real. Alabama just got caught doing what ALL teams do or have done. Simple as that.:hi:

I totally agree.

Unfortunatly, these posts bring out the lowest common denominator.

Two different SEC fans aren't gonna stay polite for long. That's part of the fun of it. I work with an Auburn fan. He and I are good friends. Except during football season, then we hate each other. That's the FUN of it.

If it doesn't get obscene and disrespectful, then I would think it's expected to see a thread turn like that. I wouldn't expect to go to any other SEC board and point out the negatives of their team and not get some smack back. It's just how it is.

In a single word NO, not in the modern football era. In more words...Never is a long time, I have not been there for the 100+ years, thousands of players who have been recruited to play for the Vols, and with the thousands of fans who have had some contact with those recruits.....:) Simple as that! But, to put it bluntly, you bammers still have the hand out!!!!
