Just a QB away from a completely different situation.

JG did not give up 24 points to Arky in the 3rd quarter Sat. We are more than just a QB away. We are a couple full rosters away.

JG did not give up 24 points but the coaches are afraid to turn him loose. CJP is afraid of another cataclysmic failure like UK. They are treating a 5th year multiple starter, like a true freshman. He has more starts at QB than most in UT history in over 100 years or at least in top 10 ,which is sad. He was 5 of 8 for 42 yards with a long of 18, so the other 4 passes where for 24 yards total . If we had Alabama or Georgia D that would suffice. He would maybe win all the close one's like in the 8 game streak where 5 of the W's could have been L's easily.

So it stands to reason that the other qbs understood the offense much better than he thought all along?

Gentlemen
I am new poster and "old" fan--Wyatt years
Been interesting to review posts on various threads for the last four or five weeks
I walked out of 2004 Auburn 3-31 after being a fan since 58 and said I would not return until Fulmer gone
Finally went back to Fla game when I thought Dooley was going to be competitive and was embarrassed
Still watch and think I know something about SEC football
My take as others have suggested is that as Kirby said when he got to Ga "our squad does not look like what I am used to"
That applies in spades to Vols today---- maybe Ol is competitive but players today are not conditioned to run block 50-60 times a game--ie why we cannot sustain after halftime at Arky in addition to adjustments
No other group even approaches SEC level
Given that without Jimmies and Joes you are in uphill battle the focus then goes to coaching
I will submit Ansley better that Stoops or Sunserie thats all
Chaney was not that effective for Dooley and I could have coached Gurley Chubb Michel Fromm and Ol studs at Ga---they did not raise any concern when he left
HC Pruitt is all we could get given our totally incompetent admin --- not even sure we we go now
Agree QB is big issue but I do not think our roster with any QB is upper echelon SEC

I do agree that with a great QB that Tennessee is a very dangerous football team. Could have possibly even beaten Georgia. Sure as hell wouldn't have lost to KY or AR.

However, there is another problem. It is the same problem that Georgia has. To have a great, title winning team you have to have a good manager as the head coach. I don't think Pruitt is a good manager. I think he micro-manages to much, which generally isn't helpful at all. Ditto for Kirby which is why even with all that talent he will likely never win a natty at Georgia.

So sad the one in JC burned down.
From what I was told, evidently there was a stipulation in the lease that did not allow the owners to rebuild in the event of it's 'destruction'... Curious about that 🔥... 🤔

Perhaps you are right but the question is why hasn't the starting QB not progressed at all and why aren't any other QBs prepared to play? Literally a complete cluster and no QB recruit will ever commit to this staff again.

No need in piling on JG, he is what he is. It’s a recruiting, then a development issue. JP needs to not sleep until he finds an elite HS, JUCO, or a transfer portal QB for the 2021 season. I don’t think he’ll survive next season without one.
100% agree

lol! It does make you wonder. Just in Monday's presser:

"He done good for us"

"The defense done good in the first half"

"We have to get the throw game going better"

Who.the.****. says "throw game", let alone an SEC HC! Jezuz H Christ

The first coach I ever heard say throw game a lot was Spurrier. He said it all the time.

This is only partially right. Pruitt is part of the problem. He has been here 3 seasons amd JG is still starting, and nobody else gets decent snaps. This is mostly a Pruitt and Chaney issue if it's been delegated to him.

JG is a fifth year QB 'nuff said

Pruitt has ZERO excuses for why his anointed QB plays like a group of 5 walk on, and the other QBs aren’t ready. It’s year 3. You think Mullen needed to wait a few years to see Trask develop? Trask should be in the Heisman conversation if he’s not already
