A full class is all guys that he recruited. Most pieces were in place for '13 when he arrived, adding a few while holding on to others. Many of the ones that were in the class may not have been his targets if he had the entire year to vet and assemble.

Full class is one in which you get to recruit a full YEAR. 2013 was a cobble/salvage job.

Where he recruited from start to finish.
Every kid and coach says it's about building a relationship.
It's why Scott was able to land us kids not on our doorstep.

But as you guys pointed out, had they not decided to stay, the NFL would already contain a few more UT products.

yeah, not worth getting in to all the technicalities.

the first class that signed while he was the head coach was 2013. his firs full cycle was 2014.

between those two classes, there will be close to, if not more than, double digit future NFL players.

so pick whichever one you want, saying "he's not put any talent in the NFL" is reaching, if you're looking for an argument AGAINST CBJ.

there are plenty of game day issues that deserve some criticism. but to date, there are zero reasons for criticism for what he's done in recruiting, culture changing and building the program back up, especially w/what he's been able to do in state.

I hold a coach making $4 million a year with a large buyout to a high standard. If he was only making $2 million then I would be a lot easier on him and the slow rebuilding process. But on the flip side when he succeeds I also give him a lot of credit. His 2013 & 2014 wins of SCAR were huge for the program. Convincing the AD to sign off on Shoop and his high contract was a big step in the right direction, the kind of step a winning program makes.

so? what exactly does that mean? "i have high standards" is clearly subjective, and could be interpreted a million different ways.

i'd just say considering the shape the program was in the day he stepped in, and the overhaul he's been able to do with ALL the off field culture issues, recruiting, relationship repair jobs with in state high schools, VFL program etc, etc, etc....and the fact that he's gotten better each year on the field.....

he's done just fine.

that doesn't mean he's arrived or it's a finished product. but it's gonna be real hard for anyone to find a real solid reason to put him anywhere near a hot seat any time soon (barring, of course, a complete meltdown this year or next, or some blockbuster deal coming out of the title IX lawsuit aka art broyles level of screw up).

Ha. His SEC salary is considered bottom tier comparable to the rest of the league. I didn't find D. Mason's salary but Jim Mac came into Florida at 3.9 million. Stoops is making 3.5 mil and he hasn't even made it to a bowl game.

If he was making 2 million he wouldn't be in the SEC.

It's fine though, you can hold him to whatever standard you want even if you don't understand the context of salaries. Overall it doesn't matter what standard a guy making 40K thinks of a man making 4 mil. Those decisions are left to bigger people thankfully.

I mean I guess you could quit your job and go get a job as an athletic director somewhere if you're qualified. Judging from your knowledge of salaries though you may find that a hard road.

Ya ever notice any of these forum AD'S never have an solution? It's always Butch is letting it slip, or he can't coach big games or he is making too much for the results, but do you ever see any logical names listed as a replacement for Jones?

I even asked Stj to give me some names in a previous post never got any.

Personally outside of Saban or Urban(neither are coming) I can't think of a name you bring in that makes the program instantly better.

There may be better game day coaches out there(the florida game 2 point chart still bothers me) but you have to factor in there is more to coaching than gameday(Coaches like players also tend to improve from past blunders.) You have to factor in the work Butch puts in on the recruting trail, how he got out academic numbers up and how well he has restored the program to national talk again in 3 years.

Bingo!
After a "hire an elite coach" comment, I asked what and who that entailed.
Turns out that only Urban And Saban met the "proven" standard and neither seemed interested.
Turns out proven elite aren't on Craigslist with a will work for sign.
Hell, Saban just called GA the best job and they had to hire a DC.
