I'll say this. Has he improved yes. But if we was not in great need at LB. He would not see the field much.

billfold, enjoy ignore! Can you not see how this kid plays? Can you not see his heart, determination, drive, his will to win, and he love for his school? He's a walkon that received a scholarship. I'll take the coaches opinions over yours any day. WAI! If you need WAI explained to you I'll clue you in now..... What An Idiot!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

He played WELL against Florida.....but if you watched him closely against UGA and against aTm--you would not have made your post.....

The kid did make a FEW plays against UGA and aTm.....but he STUNK IT UP on a LOT MORE PLAYS......

He is outmatched---and it's gonna get worse against BAMA......

Sorry to deflate your bubble.....I like the guy......but the BIG EYE IN THE SKY DON'T LIE.....

Watch the films of the games and know a little about his assignments...

I KNOW that I'll get called an azz.....but the TRUTH is the TRUTH! He hurt more than he helped today in the overall scheme of the game...

Did he miss plays and get beat to a spot on several occasions..........yes. However, I saw 10 other defensive players who did the same thing at times. Jumper puts the entire front 7 in the right spot. Kid is much needed. Go complain about something else.

Jumper has been the biggest surprise the year. He's playing out of his mind. Out of his freaking mind. I didn't think he had it in him.

Spot on. Funny how some people don't get it!

This is all true, agreed. I'll just say that going in knowing his limitations athletically, he's played better than I expected he would. That's all you can ask for.

But you're right in all of the above. Which is why he is where he is on the depth chart.

And THIS is all that I'm saying.......I've made it clear that it is nothing personal with Jumper for me....I like the fact that the kid has worked his butt off to get on the field--but he is Team 120's Nick Reveiz...he does get himself into position to make plays sometimes....

And he did make a good open field tackle yesterday against aTm....and a couple of good plays....but truth be told....he is a tweener concerning being SEC caliber. We are a weaker defense because we do not have anyone on the depth chart better than him to play the position.

Bates hasn't developed....McDowell is not much better. Everyone believed that Bryant, #36 would be playing by now...Elliott Berry isn't playing SEC caliber at LB either.....am I a bad person for saying anything about those guys??? Why haven't they developed into SEC players good enough to provide quality playing time??? I honestly don't know....

Bituli, #35, a true freshman--looks like he gonna be a true beast....and he probably will beat out some current subs for a starting position next year....

How ANYONE on here could even remotely defend anyone except for BARNETT on our defense after they gave up MULTIPLE explosive plays and 600 yards of offense is just beyond me!!!

Shoop said it himself before the season that we could not afford to lose JRM, Kirkland, and Sutton! Was he trying to insult all the backups?????

NO, he wasn't....he was telling the truth because he knew that we didn't have quality SEC talent on the depth chart behind them!!!! I'm saying the same thing and you guys are blasting me for it.....

I love this team's heart....and they NEVER QUIT! :salute:

But our lack of quality depth at multiple positions are reasons why 2018 should be our year to actually be ready to compete for a NC...We won't have quality depth good enough to make a championship run until then!!!

But by 2018--if we continue to win the games we should win and keep our recruiting momentum going--we should have quality depth across the board at OL and in the defensive front 7....and our current subs are just not there.... :salute:

My question is this:

If we get Kirkland back next week, do they leave Jumper at Mike and play DK at Sam, or do they slide CJ over and play DK at Mike? It seems to me that with JRM out, Kirkland and Jumper are our two best linebackers, and if McDowell is out there's absolutely no question, so both need to be on the field.

I would think DK would move to Mike and CJ to Sam.

all of you can go learn how to watch some film and know his assignments then come back and tell me how good he is......

he is an incredible kid who tries very hard and does make some plays.....but he screws up a lot, gets out of position very much.....plays flat-footed sometimes.....slow to react....and usually has a hard time getting off blocks....

but he makes a lot of tackles 7-8 yds down the field so I guess he be good....

lots of folks said the same type of things about the reveiz kid...but he wasn't very good, either....

How's that tampa.....no capital letters.....you all better now bumpkin'?????

You are wrong. I looks like you are the one who needs to learn how to watch film. He make tackles for loses, he makes tackles in the open field, he defends passes down field, he call defensive signals, he leads the team in tackles the last three weeks It appears you have a more deeper problem with him other than his playing abilities.

Kirkland is awesome when healthy but, I'm glad Colton has stepped in and played well. He grabbed a turnover and did not lose 6 turnovers. It doesn't help to watch film with your eyes and mind closed. Hope Vols get healthy and thankful for the grit and effort of the subs.

Last year even after Kirkland won the starting Job when we played 3 LB's Jumper was normally the third guy in. that makes me think last years DC agreed with your assessment and i could not imagine after this years performance that would have changed. At Mike or Sam Jumper is the second best guy we have at both those positions. Will is a different story. People also seem to overlook we are down Sapp (best Will on the team) also. We are really getting tested depth-wise... one can only hope that these snaps these younger guys are getting help us down the stretch. I see us ending up a 3 loss team at this point going into bowl season. Is 11-3 a bad season?

I saw Barnett get blocked down and whiff on a tackle that resulted in a long gain for aTm - therefore, he must be terrible, too.
