The guy can't shoot free throws and is 1-10 from the floor in the last two games. He does not seem to want to pass the ball. Here is some interesting info from an artcile by Mike Griffith:

Brave Prince: Prince is shooting 44.8 percent from the free-throw line in his 14 games with the Vols after going 1-for-5 from the line against LSU.

The sophomore transfer from Arizona said that won't deter him from stepping up in tight games.

"I'm not afraid; I'm still going to go to the basket every time,'' Prince said. "I want the ball in my hands if it's a one-possession game. If we're down, I want the ball.

"I've just got to step up there like a man and be accountable.''

If he's going to rely on driving to the basket, he has to shoot free throws better. Also, I think people are realizing that if you make him go to his right hand, you can stop his penetration.

Coach Pearl said in the post game interview that Prince was his main concern right now. That he needed to get his confidence back.

I'm tired of watching Prince throw up bricks and whine after every foul called on him

Heres my two cents, i posted this on the game thread last night.

At this point with Prince, you have to:

A) convince him that offensive production comes from playing sound defense.

2)That there are always 3 guys on the court that are better options than he is.

C) Convince him that demeanor and attitude have as much to do with your success as making a highlite reel move does.

I watched him play every game of his high school career. And I've tried to tell yall...he's a good player but nothing great or spectacular. I think most peoples expectations of JP are wayyy too high. He's a good reserve but nothing more in my opinion. He is too selfish and has too big of a head to really mature into a great player.

With his size and quickness he's the best athlete on the team, but he's not a great bball player; mostly because he is not a good shooter. Dane Bradshaw was not a good shooter, but he made up for it with steals, assists, hustle, etc. Prince needs to become more like Tyler, and Dane.

He and Dane Bradshaw went to the same high school and were actually teammates at one point but JP is not that type of player at all (in his head). He is the JaJuan Smith in his head. Which is why he will never be a better player in my opinion.

Also J.P. could look at what Duke has done. Last year he had no touch; his shots looked they were shot from a rifle. As of late he has shot well especially from the FT stripe.

Yeah, one of my good friend's sons played against Dane in HS, and they never thougt he would be an SEC caliber player, and along came Pearl. Hopefully Pearl can mold J.P., He's done OK with the others.

But Duke has the mindset to keep working and improving, from everything I've heard and saw it appears that JP doesn't want to put in the work

Prince needs to quit thinking of how good I'm going to look with this move, and just play solid, fundamental basketball. I think we have an unselfish team, except for him, and he needs to get in step with his teamates.

reminds me of alot of guys that come out of memphis....selfish, very little D, and a shoot first mentality

Tabb is starting to get more and more of Prince's minutes. Prince needs to turn it around for our offense to be at its peak performance level.

I thought it was interesting after JP put up a brick 3 in the 2nd half and Pearl could be heard over the TV audio screaming "JP . . that's not your shot!".

I think the most effective way to use JP is to have him in when Chism flashes up to the top of the key and opens up the lane. JP should slash to the basket for some looks from Chism.

JP does need to work on his court demeanor when he plays. It makes him look arrogant and very much of a ball hog.

I think he'll be much better next year. :crossfingers:

I tend to agree.

If you put every one of our players in a lineup, covered their faces, and asked me to pick out the best basketball player, I'd pick J.P. every time. He has all the physical attributes you'd want for a SG/SF slasher-type. Incredible athlete.

Personally, I think it's just going to take an attitude adjustment (improved work ethic and teamwork) and some confidence before we really see what J.P. can do. I think his potential is off the charts.

I'm not giving up on the guy. He's shown he can, at times, take over games. Let's just give Bruce some time ...

...

Are you kidding? With that analysis Chris Lofton would be near the bottom of the barrel for Tennessee. Freakish athletes don't always translate into premier college players. Unless his attitude changes, it's not going to happen.

I gave you a half dozen Memphis players the other day that proved your generalization to be ridiculously false when you posted this same thing.

Please name 3 players from Memphis other that Prince that constitutes your "alot" comment.

There are a ton of basketball players that come out of Memphis, when you go back several years, I am sure it is not that hard to find a lot of them that have the same mentality as Prince. Sorry man, but it honestly wouldn't take too much research to prove his statement right.

Then you should be able to find three very easily.

Sidney Adkins jumps out.

But honestly, if you really think that in the history of Memphis basketball there haven't been at least three with the same problems as Prince, you are delusional.

Don't mess me up calling Rex out for saying "reminds me of alot of guys that come out of memphis". Since it reminds him of alot of guys it should be easy to list them. I'm calling him out, that's all.

That's fine, but he should be able to back up his argument, Memphis produces a lot of talent. A lot of them end up being busts.

You had to pull an obscure example from a guy that hasn't played in over a decade.
