I don’t think they tried to get the ball to him. His jump hook is really good was hoping he would stay. Hope he goes to NC State so I can still pull for him.

Empty words by him and every other player in the portal with basically the same post. I know they can’t because “pay for play doesn’t exist” (lol) but I would respect these posts more if they would all just admit why they’re leaving.

Friend of mine that has VQ says there’s some buzz Indiana is offering Estrella $3-$4 million, which I find mind boggling if true.

Honestly, I wouldn’t offer him half that much, especially considering JP being injury prone and not a great scorer at the rim.

Well maybe they feel they will develop and get him to be a better finisher at the rim! JP ceiling is still high, and what Indiana is building, he could be worth whatever they are offering!

Things just didn’t progress quick enough at Tennessee, doesn’t mean, he’s just not able to get better, because he will and his next team is willing to bet a pretty nice price tag on it! They like his potential!

If they want to overpay him, knock themselves out. He is in no way worth that.

I’d say that obvious if that offer is anywhere close to accurate.

Was soft and missed more easy buckets at the rim than any big guy I’ve ever seen. There are plenty of better options out there.

You watched Jonas Aidoo, right?

Recency bias affects us all brother!

So long; on your way out don't let the door hit ya where the good Lord split ya!
Might as well put that on copy and paste after every season because this is what’s going to happen if you have any decent players. No need to get upset. It’s just bidness. (What everybody wanted I suppose.)

Really huge loss. He is primed for a breakout season the next two years as long as he stays healthy. Losing another 6'11 guy hurts us on the glass too. Recent years have essentually proven the need to having guys 7ft to seriously contend for a title.
Seems like the same thing has been said the past two years about him.

Completely quit recruiting high school players. Just go out and buy a team every year. Parents and kids make it only about money, then fans can completely sell out too. No more scholarships. Players can pay their own way. This is what I figured would cause Barnes to retire. He's handled it better than I expected. Still think this will drive him into retirement sooner than age. The schools keep raising prices and demanding more money from fans. Makes me appreciate past players more. No more ZZ and Mashack and players that play for the fans as well.

With four players hitting the portal (including three with starting experience), it won't be long before the "fire Rick Barnes" crowd takes notice. They are currently in the Lady Vols forum; Kim Caldwell has bought Rick some time. Too soon?

Not close to the same situation. Most of the guys leaving aren't going to go to better programs.

He wasn’t worth overpaying imo.

Good player but not a game changer by any means.
How would we be overpaying if he has 2 other programs offering him this? The market has determined the value of players his size with his skill set. We will have to pay just as much if we want to replace him with a comparable or better 7 footer.
