Here are some bullet point highlights on why Tennessee recruiting is surging.
Josh Pate gave some perspective from people inside and outside the program who have gone against Tennessee in recruiting

1. Josh Heupel is a "cerebral" recruiter and kills it with early evals, which gets them in the door earlier with teams they compete against

2. NIL-not just the money but the structure. How you set a kid up for long-term success

3. Synergy-players and coaches want to be here

He also asserts that Tennessee will be the next team to join the head table in college football

I like pate. My only problem is he’s Way too optimistic about everyone’s out look during the offseason.
Preach brother. I listen to Crain and Co bc they are unfiltered in their opinions but Josh definitely knows the most about every team in general out of any of those major cfb media people so both are good listens I’d recommend to people

102.5 in Nashville discussed this article this morning. TN has to win this year to maintain this class and build for 2026 and 2027. I’m impressed w Heup’s ability to evaluate talent before others.
If Jerrod Stillman had ANY part of that discussion…….then disregard all of it

Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Georgia, LSU, and Tennessee are always a good coach and a few good classes away from a title in the Original SEC.

With the expansion, you could add Oklahoma, Texas, and Texas A&M to that list. It will always be that way. They are the elite programs.

The teams on that list take a little more. You do have a Tier II of Arkansas, Ole Miss, South Carolina, and maybe Missouri but they seem further off.

It does feel like this is THE year to take that next step and firmly cement the program among the contenders. 2022 was a huge season and got us most of the way there. And honestly, had the coaches not been a little hypnotized by Milton's arm strength and instead pursued a steadier QB in the portal, 2023 should have been a 10-win season as well and things would look a little different right now with Tennessee expected to keep rolling rather than rebounding. The loss in Gainesville still stings.

But 10 wins are on the table yet again in 2024, and that would likely mean a playoff appearance. That, in turn, boosts recruiting for 2025, especially in the transfer portal, which will be pivotal for a big year for Nico's (likely) final season here, as we need a lot of Lance Heard types on the OL and DL to replace all the upperclassman experience we're losing after this season.

We don’t need much transfers on either line of scrimmage we have recruited very athletic ppl that get to sit and learn and develop and sub in while young… Hobbs west weathersby moi Eason Ross Joseph’s herring Jenkins will all be back with multiple years in the system on the DL… OL concerns me a little more but we will have to trust our evals on 2 back to back really good OL classes lang satterwhite Bennett umarov heard Johnson Ginther, jermias Grant possibly David sanders I wouldn’t mind a couple transfers either way to come in and challenge but I don’t feel like we would hurt if we didn’t go after much in the trenches.

Literally can't stand the guy, he's a clout chaser, he literally just says things people will find controversial or gives the opposite take to get people riled up. Then Pat's himself on the back and acts like he's the only place that will give you a good true take, everyone else is afraid to tell you the truth like he does..... LOL!

Pair that with the voice that sounds something like Mickey Mouse after years of smoking cigarette butts with a bad case of laryngitis.

Did I mention I can't stand the guy.

Milton had issues, but he didn't cost us a 10 win season. Had we pursued better DBs or what have you, we could've been better too. Last year was a transition year, and that's OK. 2022 really happened too soon in the rebuild because suddenly we were expected to be better than we were quite ready to be on a yearly basis. Now we basically have Heupel's kids in there and rightfully expectations are starting to climb.
